Possibly a rookie question and I have searched several sources with no joy.

The fuel filter canister top on my CJAA has four hoses on it. Can someone please identify those hoses for me? Which is fuel supply from tank, return from injectors and what are those others? A diagram or photo would be great. My Diesel experience is mainly with stone-age engines like the OM617 Benz, a much simpler and accessible fuel system.

My intent is to temporarily run the engine from a remote tank using Diesel Purge for injector servicing.

Hopefully I'm not wrong. Traced the lines and judging by the position on top of the fuel filter lid, I'd surmise which one comes in from the tank.

I don't know if these tanks have a lift pump like the BEW, or if it's solely the lift pump above the timing cover that draws from the tank and supplies the HPFP. So you'd basically insert the bottom two lines into diesel purge.

Yes, in-tank pump in addition to the two on the engine.
That's what I thought, since I remember that with VCDS, when you're supposed to purge air after doing any kind of service to the fuel system, including disconnecting/changing the fuel filter.

Thank you pkhoury. I had almost forgotten that I asked this question. No-one had responded until now.
My pleasure. I saw it show up on my newsfeed, and I thought, this one isn't hard, because I had the gf's JSW in the driveway with the hood already up!

yes this diagram is correct. just completed diesel purge with clear lines and watched the flow of the purge juice. my injectors were spotless. everything came back out as clear as the purge juice that went in. 167K miles
