"Due diligence"? Perhaps I should have said, "DO diligence".

small amount of gasoline?

Do not put 911 in your tank unless you're really in a jam. It will reduce the lubricity of the fuel and could potentially damage the high pressure fuel pump.
I have a question for you guys...
With my 123 MBZ, when the fuel gelled, I was successful in adding a small amount of gasoline. By "small" I mean perhaps 8 oz, which can be obtained by squeezing the residual fuel in gasoline pumps into an empty quart oil container. (Remember this is an expedient.) Well that cleared the line, but perhaps just letting the engine heat soak to the injector pump did more than the gasoline. I had recalled VW (pre-TDI) recommended a pint of gasoline as a cold WX expedient.

Presumably this sort of small quantity won't affect the lubricity of the fuel, but I'm wondering if this would harm a TDI. I'm thinking of my (pre-PD) ALH.

Any thoughts?

I remember doing that with my Rabbit, but no need today. Fuels are much better, even without additives. And I wouldn't subject my TDI to any amount of gasoline.
