• The TDIClub classifieds section is a heavily trafficked section of the forum that encompasses want-to-buy (WTB) and for-sale (FS) threads for the entire world. Due to the demanding nature and fast pace of this section, it is imperative that you know and understand the rules. It is also important to remember that this is the only parts classifieds section.

Cross-posting and posting classifieds in the regional sections (except the dedicated thread in Ontario) is not permitted.

Multiple items should be sold in one thread. Make sure to provide a description for all items in your post along with pictures and prices. If you start multiple threads with individual items, they will be locked or combined at the discretion of the moderators.

Here is a quick outline of the classifieds section rules. If you don't follow these rules, you subject yourself to thread deletion, thread combination, infractions, or posting privilege revocation.

    Thread titles:
    • Put FS or WTB in your thread title. This will let other users know if you are selling or buying.
    • Briefly describe what you are selling. Thread titles have limited space. Be as descriptive, yet succinct, as possible.
    • Put your location in the title.
    • If space allows, put your price in the title

Title example (single item): "FS: 2004 Mk4/BEW cylinder head - Portland, OR - $500"
Title example (multiple items): "FS: MK6 fog lights, front bumper, headlights, grill - Detroit, MI"
Title example (car part-out): "FS: Mk3 Jetta parting out engine & interior - Dallas, TX"

    Thread text descriptions and pictures:
    • All for-sale threads must include pictures of the items that you are selling. One picture is sufficient, but multiple pictures with different angles will help buyers. A picture is worth a thousand words. If you don't know how to post pictures on TDIClub, see this thread: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=286691
    • All for-sale threads must include a description. We don't charge per-word, so be as descriptive as possible. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for buyers.
    • All for-sale threads must include a price. Auctions and bidding are not allowed. If you want to auction something off, use eBay.
No picture, no price, NO SALE!

    Thread maintenance/updates/bumps:
    • When you sell something, update your thread with "SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title.
    • If you have multiple items for sale, update your thread as each item has been sold. When everything has been sold, updated the thread with "ALL ITEMS SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title when all items have been sold.
    • If you bump your thread, please delete old bumps by clicking on EDIT and then deleting the old bump. This will reduce clutter in your thread and make it easier to read. It also makes you look less desperate.
    • If you drop your price, please update your first post in addition to posting the new price. If you would like the thread title changed, click on the report post icon and let a moderator know what you would like the title changed to.

    Moderator intervention and infraction points:
Moderators will be monitoring the classifieds section. If a moderator determines that you have not been following the rules listed above, corrections will be made and infraction points will be assessed to your account.

What is an infraction point? Simple - it's a system of keeping track of user behavior. A moderator can assign a point value based on the severity of the infraction, as well as an expiration date on the points assessed. If you accumulate a certain number of points, the system will auto-ban you for a predefined amount of time. The more points you accumulate, the longer your ban period will be.

One example of points is as follows: multiple threads will be combined into a single thread, with the number of infraction points assessed corresponding to the number of threads merged. If we merge four threads into one, then you will be assessed four points that expire in 30 days. When you reach five points, the system will auto-ban you for one day.*

*This is an example based on the current infraction system structure. We reserve the right to modify the infraction system at any time without notice or updates to this announcement.

Thank you for your cooperation, and good luck with your sales and searches! :)

FS: Red \'96 Passat TDI for $9K

I just drove a very nice Tornado red '96 Passat TDI sedan with sunroof at a dealer in Acton, MA. (20 miles west of Boston). A friend of mine works there. It has 82K miles and was traded in there. Originally sold by Minuteman VW in Bedford, MA. VIN WVWGG83A3TE101411. I think you could get it for $8950.

Call 978-263-1500 and ask for Richard Murphy. Tell him Dan sent you.

If my kids were 3 years older, I would have bought it, but we have no need for another car and I like my 1.8T B5 Passat. But somebody should scoop this car. What I saw:

- Looks very healthy, body, mechanical, etc. No signs of any accidents, but I can't guarantee that.

- Seems to run fine. I drove it about 20 miles.

- Black cloth interior. AC, stereo, etc. seem to work. Didn't try all windows.

- Only slight reservations - Seat height didn't seem to go down all the way, obstruction? Also has new generic tires, so handling is less than sparkling. Seems to have original suspension.

If you're looking for a Passat TDI, this seems like a great deal.

Bought it. It's mine!!! What a nice car. Put a deposit on it Friday night and just came back from test driving it during lunch. Checked it out and everything seems to work. No squeaks, rattles either. I love it. This is my third VW diesel! The other two were '86 Golfs and this one is certainly in a whole different league. I just hope that it's as reliable as my Golfs were. In over 500k miles they've never let me down.

Paid $9k for it. I will have to do the timing belt as soon as I get the car home because they don't have any records of the timing belt having been done. Since the car is in near mint condition and looks very well maintained throughout I imagine that it's been done, but I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to the timing belt. No sense in taking chances...

Definitely going to UPsolute it as soon as I have my "nice weather" car (a TVR) on the road which should be sometime this spring.

Nice car tomo366. I had looked at your pictures before in a previous posting by you. I like your wheels. I have some 15" MSWs in my basement that I am itching to put on the car but they'll have to wait till spring. The roads around here are really terrible right now. It seems like we have more potholes here this year than in past years. I like that leather interior too. I'd love to put some nice Recaro seats in mine but that's just a dream for now.

Awesome deal, diesel fan! You picked up your red TDI just like I did. Saw the 96 red Passat on a local VW lot and just had to have it! Mine has more miles (120k) but is truly mint for the most part. Even new car smell. Dealer wanted $8900 but took my '84 Audi 5000 in on trade for $1500 = $7400. But I had $1200 cash down so financed @ $6500. For a car of this caliber (and seemingly well maintained) I think that is a steal. Dealer did timing belt, oil change, and I think, fuel filter. No problems yet, although manual shifting is tricky sometimes.--Steve

Dieselfan;

Two questions:

1) What TVR do you own?

2) Where in Mass are you so I can possibly check out your TVR?

I have been a TVR fan since I was eight. I will have one eventually but for now, I can only admire others'. I guess I am drawn to quirky cars.

Re: FS: Red \'96 Passat TDI for $9K

It is an '86 280i. Color is dark blue with a light grey leather interior which is pretty rare. Funny thing is before this one I had an '85 280i which was also dark blue (sold it and exported it to Spain) and it took me a loooong time to find the one I have now. I regreted selling my '85 almost the minute I dropped it off at the loading dock. Unfortunately I have not registered the TVR last year because of the new emission testing. It will no longer pass the test because the engine has been extensively modified and you can smell the raw hydrocarbons coming out the tailpipe. I used to go to a garage that was pretty good about giving me a sticker but they are no longer doing the inspections so right now I am out of luck and have no way to get it past emissions. In its current state of tune the car is extremely fast and fun to drive. It easily does 65 in second gear and it puts a huge smile on my face whenever I take it out for a spin. Hopefully I can figure out something for this year because it's driving me bonkers not being able to drive the car. Sad to say, but I don't think that I even have any pictures of my '86 but I have some of my former '85 that I could scan in and post sometime.

Ok, this is the TDI forum, so I got to add some obligatory TDI stuff. Ok, here it goes, got 805 miles out of my first tank and love the Passat. Just got the PiperX filter and Tuning box is on the way. The Passat is no TVR but it sure is a hell of a lot more practical and driveable.
