Hi all,

I have more ISO-9141 to RS-232 OBD-II interfaces in. Do to the national goof off month it took some time to get it all in again.

We have done some minor revisions to this latest run. Mostly to clean up the routing and now the board is solder masked and silk screened to give in that real professional look.

Still the same great product that we have sold 100's of all over the world, and still the very low price of $60 and that includes shipping anywhere in the world.

You can call us at 1-888-306-4255 or order online ORDER HERE on our secure server.

Works with Vag Com and some other software. Vag Com shareware can be downloaded here. Once you see that Vag Com is going to work please register it. It is the best tool you will have in the box and worth many times the price asked.

I may just be ig'nant, but I couldn't get mine to hook up to my car. (1998 NB, TDI)

I'm using the fully registered Ross-Tech software.

What are the instructions for getting it all hooked up?

I tried all the COM ports, and it appeared to not recognize the Adapter.

I guess I will start from there. Do any of you know the procedure to getting my car to talk to my laptop?

Thanks,

Luke

First of all make sure you have it plugged all the way into the OBD connector on the car. The red LED should be lite all the time. Secondly make sure you are using the correct serial cable, do not use a cross over cable. I have not had a bad unit, not say that it can't happen, but it has always been one of those two things. I would advise that you cut the plastic loose on each side of the tab on the interface obd connector.

None of the LEDs were illuminated when I had it plugged in.

I will check again though.

Hi Luke,

What kind of computer are you using? If it is a Compaq, than you likely have a compatability issue with the adapter: the adapter you have draws its RS232 power from the serial port. This loading can not be handled by laptops with lame serial ports. If this is the case and you want to keep your laptop, your best bet is to buy an adapter either from Ross-Tech (UNI-COM) or us (MONO-COM).

Oh, our website is www.sensolutions.com

Hopefully this helps.

Regards,

Martin

If the red LED did not lite then you did not have it plugged in all the way. Just check it out and if you are still having problems give me a call. You don't need the over priced unit the others are selling.

The laptop is a P233 Toshiba Satellite pro.

I have it hooked to my desktop as I type, and it is not talking to the shareware here either.

How do I verify I have the right serial cable?

I just bought a 6' serial extension cable at Staples.

I was not aware there were multiple kinds.

Either way, I get the "Adapter Status 3 - Not Found or Not Ready"

At this point, should any of the LEDs light up?

Plugging the adapter directly into the OBD jack on my running car does not make any of the lamps illuminate.

The case of the connector itself, looks as if someone has pryed it open with a flathead screwdriver as well. (just on one side)

And it arrived in a baggie that had been opened. (the tape was broken)

So i'm curious if it was a returned item or something that I received??

It will not lite unless you have it plugged into the obd connector on the car. As you look at the interface turn it over and you will see a tab in the center of the obd connector. Take I knife or razor blade and cut it loose. This will make it much easier to plug into the car. Give me a call if you can, i am here by the phone.

I think it just might work

I didn't have it plugged in tight enough.

Note: You might want to refrain from working on your car when it's 0 degrees out though. I busted part of the holder for my OBD connector.

But I did manage to hook up the tool and log data, and verify that my car has no fault codes.

Some day when it's warmer, I'll attempt to do more.

Thanks Greg, for your help.
