1st post but long time reader/learner of these forums. As a TDI owner for 10 years I've appreciated the cult following around these cars and the many that have invested countless hours in posting repair and modification tutorials. Unfortunately my time with this TDI has come to an end, but I hope someone on here can inject some love into this car and keep it going.

Eric's 2005 VW Jetta TDI
Highlights:
- 2005 mk4 Jetta TDI - 1.9l BEW engine
- stick shift
- 452,836 km's (Canadian car, moved to Chicago in 2016)
- engine is still running strong
- car drives straight
- front pads and rotors replaced last Fall
- oil, fuel, cabin and air filters all changed at regular intervals or more frequently
- timing belt overdue
- clutch has over 200,000 kms on it but still shifts great
- check engine light due to MAF sensor
- lots of body rust on the front fenders and doors (both sides)
- damage to rear passenger fender
- interior dash lights do not work
- broken driver side mirror, currently taped on with duct tape
- missing cover on passenger side mirror
- all tires are due to be replaced
- parking brake doesn't work (retaining clip broken)
- broken antenna
- headlights lens are far from clear (tried sanding and clear coat but this made it worse if anything)
- driver side tail light running light doesn't work, but brakes and signal do
- door lucks occasionally stick
- armrest missing cover (never used it)
- cruise control frequently turns off when using turning signal
