Finally deciding to sell my 2015 GSW TDI S. I ordered a Ford Maverick the past 3 years and finally got one. Originally, I ordered unsure if I'd ever take delivery but after waiting 3 years I got a case of the 'gotta-have-ums' when I finally got scheduled and decided to follow through. But this kind of feels like I put an offer in on a house I didn't expect to get and they surprisingly accepted and now I'm being pushed out of the house that I really loved for a long time.
I purchased new in 2017 from Momentum VW here in Houston and now sits at right at 149,400 miles. Probably the most important piece of info for anyone considering is my brother-in-law was the service director there for years - so almost every bit of maintenance was done at the dealer because if things weren't perfect I knew exactly who to talked to at dinner on Sunday. A lot of stuff I'd typically perform on my own car was just pointless because I knew it was going to get done right the first time for a more than fair price. Yes, timing belt was completed at, you guessed it, ~130k miles and I have all that paperwork available. I did however always replace my own engine and in-cabin are filter because...come on.
Every Monday through Friday for the last 6+ years I've driven it between 30 to 100 miles, primarily on the highway, traversing Houston for work. Never once left me stranded. Surprisingly (or maybe not for those who have owned), only typical maintenance has ever been needed. Windows have kept rolling, wipers have kept swiping, never any wonky codes after the recall phases or issues. I change the oil, put in DEF when told and follow the mileage maintenance chart. It has been and remains to be rock solid. I did replace the A/C compressor 2 years ago because I felt like it never was working at full capacity, since Day 1, but I live in Houston and drove around comfortably enough for 4 years before doing that so it was never a real issue. But it was more to prove to myself that the system could work a little better and sure enough it's pretty damn icy now. The car needs nothing to take you from point A to point B, of course registration is due this month so I'll take care of that before any sell. The windshield has a crack but listen I've replaced 4 of these ****ing things because of Houston bullshit and I'll be damned if I replace another only to get it cracked before it sells. Yes, I replace with Pilkington glass too...it hasn't mattered. I'll discuss options with any serious buyer.
As things wore down, I always kind of dreamed of going with some Touareg springs and shocks, adding a roof rack and some black steelies with a little tune but I guess it never gave me enough issues to need to start getting creative with it. I've done plenty of bullshitting on Volvos over the years but I have learned to just leave well enough alone when things are going right. Only 'modifications' completed was the deAutoLED headlights (yes they have a cutoff and I've never been flashed) and interior kit. They've functioned flawlessly for years now and I can't speak highly enough about those items. I also threw in a generic Android touchscreen back in 2018 and after that hardware got a little old I swapped in a newer unit about 6 months ago. I personally love them, I use Android Auto (Carplay should work too) and everything works as it should but it comes with the original radio if you want to swap that back in. I also installed the hideaway 1.25" Curt hitch and did it with much higher quality bolts than what it came with - never used it but I liked the idea of being a bike person at one time.
The general shape of the exterior/interior of the car is phenomenal when considering the age and mileage. I live pretty lightly and it's always been garage kept. No major dents/dings/paint damage. The one sore spot is on the front bumper which is indicative of a life on the highway. It's not bad or needing replacement but it's really the only panel with any blemishes.
Anyways, I'll add more when I think about it but here are some cell phone pictures below. I should have taken out in the full sun for better clarity and will try and rectify that next weekend...if required, I can go try and get artistic with a DSLR if that's going to make someone feel better - to be auctioned.
