Hi all,
New forum member here but I'm an established user over at MyE28.com and was active on the Frybrid and Infopop Biodiesel forums before they were both shut down.

I have an unused Frybrid conversion kit with a lot of upgraded bits and pieces that I installed into my old BMW 524td before it was totaled. I can lay everything out and document with pictures if there is interest here but here are a couple images of the fuel tank, which should fit well in a TDI trunk.

I also have an assortment of components from my filtering still if that is of interest as well.

Thanks!

Wow, I haven’t heard Frybrid in a while. They were the premium kit, back in the day. Wonder how Chris is doing?

If I was in the market, I’d buy yours in a second. Just curious, what is the square on top of the tank for? And I assume you mean “used”, not “unused conversion kit”?

Thanks! I welded that angled aluminum to stash odd bits on top of the tank in the trunk.

No, the kit was installed but never used. I can take picture of tank, valves, heat exchanger, etc. interiors to prove that nothing was run through the system.

Yes, Frybrid was the best there was back then but they were impossible to actually buy as Mr. Goodwin seemed to have trouble running the business side of things. It took over two years for me to receive this kit after I placed the order!

I wonder how Chris Goodwin is doing. He was clearly a very talented mechanic and fabricator.

I also placed an order with him, for a custom tank and system for my Jeep Liberty. I sent him a cardboard model of the tank and he assured me it would be done shortly. It went on and on for at least a year. I finally notified him that if it wasn’t done by some deadline, I would cancel the order. The deadline came and went, I contacted him several more times but he never responded. Finally I had a custom tank made up locally and bought Greasecar fittings and valves. Almost a year later he tells me the tank is done. He got pretty mad when I told him I couldn’t take it, and I even felt kind of bad, but I had done everything possible. I couldn’t wait forever.

why did you decide not to use the system after you installed it? A 524td running on WVO would be pretty cool. Do you still have the car?

The car was totaled while I was still in the process of restoring it. I had rebuilt the engine and transmission, refreshed nearly everything really and was in the process of installing the Frybrid kit when it got wrecked. It was a really fun project car.

Not surprised to hear your Chris Goodwin tale. That seemed to be par for the course for the last few years before Frybrid ceased doing business. He designed and built a great system; it was just far too difficult to actually purchase.

Here are some pics of the filtering equipment I have available: https://ibb.co/album/rb37MD

Good condition used Redline Pump setup with four stage filtration.

Description/specs from the current version of the pump on the Redline site are:

“This is the 1/3 HP MP2000F Dayton Waste Oil/Bulk Oil Transfer/Filtration System which features the MP2000DD transfer pump, a 10 micron spin-on filter system with mount, a dual ball valve filter bypass system, 1" hose barbs and hose clamps. Add $30.00 for a pressure gauge. This system can be used to transfer bulk or waste oil, collect oil, or to filter it. This unit works best with oil that is above 40 degrees in temperature. By setting the ball valves on or off you can run oil through the filter or choose to bypass it. This feature makes it easy to go from filtration system to transfer system in just seconds. Filters for this system can be purchased at most auto parts stores! We sell them for $34.00 each. This transfer system has a 1/2" port heavy duty cast iron pumping unit that features an adjustable pressure relief system. There is a bolt on the back of the gear head that can be turned in or out to set the pressure higher or lower. This system has a max pressure of 100 PSI. This high pressure ensures you will get longer life out of the replaceable element filters. Accessories for this system are the 42" suction wand with 16 mesh screen for $55.00, 1" oil resistant hose for $6.00 per foot, or a cleanable suction strainer for $250.00. The suction strainer is a good idea if your sucking oil from a container that prohibits the use of a suction screen. A complete 1" oil resistant hose kit is $350.00 and includes two 10 foot hoses, a complete set of cam lever quick couplers, and the 42" suction wand. Additional steel adaptors are required for the hose kit which adds $65.00 to the cost of the system. This system as shown is $999.00 + $150.00 shipping.”

The earlier version of the pump that I am selling has the cleanable suction strainer filter housing and the suction wand with mesh screen. I used aluminum fittings throughout the assembly wherever possible as well as a very nice aluminum housing bag filter from McMaster-Carr ($350). I have several unused filter bags to include as well.

This setup was used to filter waste vegetable oil and all fittings and hoses shown in the later pictures of the fully assembled filtering still rig are included except for the old water heater.
