It is so ironic when we put so much energy into collecting parts, getting all the details straight, just for something to change the plans and then sell it all off. That is exactly what has happened here.
Up for sale is my personal engine that I have been building for almost a year now. Steve Glover (mtbr297) has been overseeing the build and corrdinating with the machine shop on this and has done a great job. I have just been supplying the parts for them to work with.

Here is what it is:
ALH block that has the bores matched to a brand new set of BHW pistons.
New set of PD150 Rosten rods.
I decided to use the BHW crank in the ALH block for the larger bearings.
Ported ALH head. We took a sliced-up head to the porter for him to maximize the port job.
Dual valve springs from Kyle.
TDIMeister cam from Kyle. (the head was CNC clearanced for the cam)
Valves were cut to maximize flow (new guides)

The measurements have been taken for the piston valve reliefs to be cut (that is currently where the pistons are). I have the machine shop ready to lower the CR of the pistons to 17:1. They are setting it up to CNC the bowls on the bottom side of the lip, retaining all of the lip and cone inside of the bowl. If you wanted the bowls to remain stock, act fast and stop me before I give them the green light. This shop is a performance VW and Harley Davidson machine shop that does phenominal work. They produce their own line of performance engines both for aircooled VW's and Harley's.

All that is left is to finish the pistons, have the rotating assembly balanced, then assemble. Steve Glover has agreed to finish the engine build if the new owner desires, we can work out those details.

Along with all this is a 6-speed that RyanP imported for me. Here are the details of the transmission:

DRW 6-speed
Wavetrac LSD
New Axles
New starter
New OEM VW slave cylinder hydraulic line
Clutchmasters dual disc clutch, entire assembly weighs 28 lbs. with flywheel (capable of 650 lb.ft.), same clutch Whitbread is using.
Beefed up clutch forks
Engine: $4950
Transmission: $4700
Everything: $9000

I have more than this invested. If you do your homework, you will realize that this is a very strong setup and reasonably priced.

I was building this for a compound turbo setup, with strength in mind with every component. If you are considering building a performance engine.... here it is.

I will get some pics this weekend at Steves gtg of the engine, head, and pistons. I have the trans at my shop.

Did you ever get the transmission guts cryo treated? Any chance of pricing in the engine/tranny swap labor? You'd have a hard time better describing my long term plans, but I may just have to scrape together $9k to make them short term plans instead.

I did not send the transmission guts off, but I still have it open and could have that done. I am a dealer for Jet-Hot ceramic coatings, and can get competitive pricing on their anti-friction nano coatings if the new owner desired.

I will talk with Steve about the swap labor. I am strictly a performance fabrication shop.

Didn't realize that. Shipping might make more sense then. Does the block have a girdle? Are the lifters from Kyle, too? How soon are you going to tell the machine shop to modify the pistons? I was leaning more toward 17.5:1 or so. Were you originally planning on ceramic coating the pistons, or just installing them as-is? Sorry for all the questions, but I am genuinely interested.

I can ship, or you are welcome to visit Texas.

No girdle. I have drawn up a girdle that is 1 piece billet. It is the bottom plate and incorporated main caps. If you want me to have it machined and installed (includes line boring) we can discuss those details, otherwise I strongly suggest you find a girdle to use. The 1 piece billet girdle is the strongest solution possible if you want it.

Lifters are a new set of the black OEM lifters (PD Lifters). Kyle suggested I use them.

Piston modifications can start whenever. I was going to continue with the machining unless someone shows certain interest and expresses a different desire than I have for them. They can machine the CR down to whatever ratio you desire. The price includes ceramic coating the pistons.

When you are going to spend this much money, there are no such things as too many questions. I understand.

PM me your phone number if you want to get really detailed on the shipping, girdle, etc..
