There are just too many to list....
I've only ever seen a handful of NA '91 Jetta diesels besides mine and another I briefly owned. Oddly enough, several of them were 2dr as well. They were rare cars [here] to begin with, but I wonder what the ratio of 2dr/4dr was. Seems like I've only ever seen the late A2 2drs with a diesel, too, now that I think about it. Never a gasser.

1991 was the Dark Ages for Volkswagen sales here.

The AC doesn't work, it might need to be recharged.
In my experience its worth driving to Autozone, paying the $30 and having in filled to prove that it works (did this while selling my Tundra and in one fell swoop it stopped the lowballers in their tracks, even though I knew none of them cared if it worked.

If it works, you can say- it works! If it doenst you can say - it doesn't not my problem :D

Sweet ride is what I actually meant to say. I miss my mk2 jetta.

Thanks for your input. I might try to recharge the AC just to give it a try.

I personally barely use the AC. I daily drive a B5.5 wagon and I can count with one hand how many times I used the AC this (past) summer and it got hot up here.

Sweet Jetta Coupe. I had an '86 that I had swapped an ABA into. SOOOO FUN. That was before I went diesel. If I had the money and needed another mk2, I would so pick this up. N/A 1.6's respond well to boost, I know of a few people running VNT's on these engines with mechanical controllers.

I have an '84 Jetta Diesel........did an R134a conversion myself. It works just fine. And, I just recently did an R134a conversion on my ALH TDI powered '84 Vanagon.......the AC is almost cold enough to hang meat!

Nice ride there!

Indeed, these cars are fun and getting pretty rare, too.

Honestly, if I was going to keep it, I would delete the AC myself. These engines are great but we know that they're not powerful and I personally don't care for AC. If it was a newer car that would be a different story.

I'm one of those letting my body/system to normally adjust to the conditions outside :)

... None :S
My '91 has been R134a longer than it was R12, still will freeze you out. Works better than my Passat does!
Yes, but I bet you flushed the lines, made sure everything was clean, and tested the pressures... you didn't just use a "drop in" kit from vato-zone that adds more oil into the system without removing the mineral oil first :) That's what I'm asking the OP to avoid... a "mixed" system.

Yeah, I tend to do things the correct way.... and you're right, I should never assume everyone does (I know better!). :)

by the looks of the car, it doesn't look like he's cutting too many corners.
