Up for sale is my 03 Jetta TDI wagon w/ 184k miles. It was originally an automatic, but it was swapped to a 5 speed manual by the previous owner. It runs and drives well overall, but certainly needs work.
Got a Malone stg 2 tune & since then has intermittent CEL for “boost not reaching specified level” and it’s sorta slow. Actuator doesn’t seem to be stuck.
Manual swap is perfect. The previous owner stated it has an upgraded clutch from South Bend Clutch. Reverse lights work as they should, but the cruise control does not work.
-184k miles is nothing for an ALH TDI. If you’re looking for one of these, you probably already know that. The timing belt was done at 170k and I have the receipt to prove it.
-Paint is in good condition overall and rust is minimal compared to the average salt belt mk4 with this mileage.
*roof rack crossbars not included
cons:
1) front ST coilover suspension is clunky. I think the strut mounts are worn down. I have a Koni cup kit that’s brand new. I had it installed, but I didn’t like how the front sat higher than the rear so I had the coilovers put back in. I still have the cup kit and can include it. (The rear shocks from that kit are still being used on the car)
2) as mentioned in the ad, it’s not boosting the way it should since it was tuned with the Malone stage 2 tune. It’s perfectly drivable, but the power delivery is flat instead of feeling the boost kick in when you hear the turbo doing its thing. CEL comes and goes and the code says it’s not reaching specified boost pressure.
3) cruise control isn’t working
4) interior smells like a mk4 lol. I installed some wolfsburg edition seats but haven’t gotten the bottom rear section in. I’ll include the bottoms though of course
5) rear view mirror fell off and I haven’t been able to get it to stick lol. I got a suction cup one which has repeatedly slowly worked its way down the windshield and left sticky residue (reminds me of a slug lol). I’m gonna try to clean that up once and for all though before people come check it out
It does have some goodies too:
-E code headlights and taillights with rear fog setup
-2.5” Milltek turbo back exhaust (sounds great!)
- Dieselgeek short shifter
- Hardwire kit for Escort radar detector, if you have one of those
-16” OEM BBS Montreal II wheels
