Customer wants to part ways with her 2003 Jetta, she bought it new. 282k miles, the water pump has started leaking before it was due for replacement at 300k. Runs and drives fine, just leaking (I would not want to drive it very far, and I can certainly do the work if someone wants).

$1500 as it sits. I've serviced it since it was out of warranty, extensive records on it, she always took good care of it, never in any crashes. Non-smoker, she does have a pet but it doesn't smell (I would know!).

It is a GLS w/ lux, cloth seats, heated seats, does NOT have ESP. I think most of the door latches are bad in some way or another, that was something she never was concerned with.

I've redone the suspension once (Bilstein), a clutch, brakes, tires are about 50%, battery is not very old, DFIS rebuilt the pump already, cheap headlight replacements. Has a boost gauge but is otherwise stock.

Does have some fender rust, a small dent ahead of the RR wheel arch, some scratches, etc.

It isn't a creampuff, but it is mechanically sound and well cared for (aside from the water pump leak).

Car has been SOLD

Great price and condition. I just looked up how much it would cost for me to fly out and drive it back. Doesn't work out. Someone will snatch this up quick.

As the timing belt drives the water pump, any time a water pump starts to leak through its seal and out the weep hole is cause for concern enough that you would not want to drive the car that way. Because the leaking seal could be just a failing seal, OR it could mean the bearing is failing and the seal leak is a cause of that. A complete and total failure of the water pump could (most likely would) cause the timing belt to fail, and cause engine damage.

As it turns out, the owner was planning on getting a new car after the first of the year, which she did. So this car was going to be for sale anyway, it just happened that this leak started before the next timing belt interval was due at 300k (technically I did the 200k one at 197k).

If I needed this car, I'd happily add it to my fleet. But I really do not need it, and I'm honestly more of a Golf guy than a Jetta guy anyway. Just trying to pass it along to someone else.

This looks like a great opportunity for someone. Looks pretty clean under the hood. Usually, every bolt, clamp etc is rusty. Even if you add for the T belt and water pump, it's reasonable and the buyer knows it's done right ✅️

Yes, it has been sold.
Thank goodness. I've been eyeing it daily. It was so hard to not want to grab this and that trans from Mozambiquer. I've shown the car to my wife 3+ times now. Like a kid asking for a cookie hoping the next time I ask I'll get a different answer😄.

Hope it went to a great owner!!
