2002 VW Golf GLS TDI & 2015 Q5 TDI
2002 VW Golf GLS tdi 4 door with ALH engine and manual 5 speed transmission. Currently has 251k miles. One owner since new all regular maintenance done at or ahead of schedule. All parts acquired from reputable vendors on this site. Car is in great overall condition inside and out for 21 years of age.

The Good: many upgrades installed such as RC3 tune, pp520 bosio nozzles @ 200k, DC stage 1 clutch & OEM 21lb SMF @ 165K, OMI, ON CCV, buzzken 2.5" SS downpipe with cat & tt SS cat back Borla exhaust, bilstein HD struts/shocks, Neuspeed sport soft springs, short shift kit, 25mm RSB, strut tower brace, upgraded tt suspension bushings, front R-axles, DG skid plate, upgraded SMIC, new INA cam & lifters at 172k (during T-belt #2 replacement), reman 5 speed 02J transmission at 236k.

Interior in excellent condition with Recaro front gli/gti seats, monster mats, non-smoker, no pets/kids, headliner in place & intact.

Exterior in good condition except for minor rust in usual areas and some clear coat beginning to peel.

Many extra parts available for inclusion in sale such as: new front fenders, oil/air/fuel filters, rear window regulator, F&R door latch mechanisms, new COMPLETE VNT17/bv39 TURBO KIT, OEM VW roof rack cross bars, etc.

The bad: Rear driver window regulator needs replacement (parts included in sale). Exterior has minor rust in the usual spots on fenders and front rocker panels (new front fenders to be installed in Oct along with rocker panel repairs).

SALE ON HOLD PENDING BODY WORK. Extra parts are negotiable. Only driving the car locally so mileage will remain around 251k.

*UPDATE: the car is FIXED with T-belt #3 and a new 10mm IP installed as of July. Additionally, I decided to put this sale ON HOLD until body work is complete in October.

just out of curiousity, why did this engine need a new cam & lifters at 172k? (not typical for an ALH)

And, why did it need a new manual trans at 236k? (again, not very typical)

Good questions!

The cam & lifters were replaced due to minor wear as preventative maintenance during T-belt #2 for peace of mind in safely getting to T-belt #3. I'm not exactly sure why they were worn. I always used high quality 0w40 or 5w40 synthetic oils and changed it at 5-8k or 1yr intervals.

My 02J differential bearings were worn and sloppy by 230k to the point gear lube was leaking out and the bearings were getting loud. The original transmission shifted & drove perfectly but I knew it was on borrowed time & couldn't find anyone I trusted to replace just the bearings cost effectively so I got a whole reman 02J from Cascade German and installed it.

There are just too many to list....
I have a brand new 10mm injection pump I will sell you for less than DFIS could rebuild yours for, PM me. It was installed on an engine and run just long enough to verify the engine was tooefed, so it has had fuel in it, but has only about 10 minutes run time and literally zero miles. Genuine Bosch, not some Chinasquirt/Prothe knock-off.

Bump, updated post #1, the car will be fixed by the end of May with a new 10mm IP and deluxe T-belt kit installed. Still considering offers to sell.

Update, car will be fixed by early July. Entertaining offers to sell once it is fully drivable again with a fresh IP and delux T-belt kit installed.
