Built in Germany May 2003
I bought it as a CPO in December 2004 from a VW dealer in Indiana with 43k on the dial. Which was an impressive amount of driving, since the previous owner bought it in August 2003.
It's been in California since then. I drove it daily until 2013, then gave it to my father-in-law who drove it on and off for the last 7 years.
The paint is rough, clear coat it peeling in lots of places, hood and roof especially.
Zero rust, it's spent 16 out of it's 17 years in California.
Timing belt was done by OldPoopie in '09 at ~97k miles.
New Sachs VR6 clutch w/ single mass flywheel went in at 130k
Koni reds all around and front suspension refresh in April '13
It has sat for awhile, and there was some rodent nesting in the spare tire well. That's been cleaned up. No harness damage. Everything that I can test works.
It drives well, pulls strong, no boost issues.
Needs new tires. It's due for a new timing belt, and the fuel lines from to and from the fuel filter look like they should be replaced soon.
The plan had been for this to be my daughter's car, but she's not interested in learning to drive...
I'll post engine bay photos tomorrow.
