Front Strut Replacement

Hi. OK, I've read the how-tos, FAQs, etc. etc. But what I'm wondering is just how difficult is it to replace the front struts? My nephew did his '02 Jetta TDI (which I also have) and said he'd gladly pay someone to do it again, and he's pretty good with a wrench. I realize this is vague and subjective, but I'm hoping to gain some perspective before I attempt it.

I'm a n00b and I did mine ('00 Golf). It was a chore. You'll need the spring compressor for sure.
