Just picked it up on the 26th of March. Black 2015 Highline wagon. I've been looking for the past couple years and one came up for sale 8hrs NE of us...did the hold deposit and went and picked it up a week later. Lots to learn and lots of driving ahead.

Made the same move myself!

Had a tired 1.8T 5MT 2001 Golf approaching 200k miles with bad AC (critical in Atlanta) when the diesel-gate cars were released at 5k off MSRP with 0 down 0% financing.

Love the move and plan to drive this thing until the wheels fall off.

Yep, same. Sold my 2001 Golf TDI with 393K miles on her for a mk7 Golf TDI. VW was practically giving them away! I really like the new car, though I do miss the mk4 on occasion.

Only thing I miss about my Mk4 is the manual transmission (my Mk7 has the DSG).

That said, a DSG tune makes it a lot more livable.

And I do so much appreciate the more refined / quiet ride of the Mk7 - being able to carry on a normal-volume conversation at 120kph....wouldn't happen in my Mk4.

It'll be my wifes daily and I'll be in the MK4(which will go in for paint in June I'm hoping) pretty impressive to drive, and still figuring it all out...

I’m interested in the DSG Tune as well... what’s the one standout you like/love from this upgrade?

The factory DSG setting was always trying to get into the next highest gear....to the point I'd be driving around town at 30mph in 5th gear at 1100rpm - ugh! And then "Sport" mode held everything way too long.

Not only are the shifts moved higher in D mode, they moved them pretty much to *exactly* where I'd be shifting. Malone did a great job in putting the shift points in the right place (as far as I'm concerned) based on engine speed, acceleration, etc.

If I ever bought another Mk7, I'd have a DSG tune done pretty much on the drive home from the dealer lot. :)

How's the light throttle downshifting of the DSG tune,

Such as cruising at steady state highway speed and grabbing 5th, is there any lag or pause before the next gear is selected?

I honestly don't recall; all I can say is that I've never had it be such that I'd think "damn - that was a sluggish downshift". So.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks @Nuje! Before you could reply I went into OCD mode and researched until I settled on Kerma TDI flash tune. It’s going to be 5-6 weeks before the transmission tuning device is available. I will update after install.
