Posting here because the coding features appear to be MQB and MLB-EVO specific right now. Only needs a cheap Bluetooth dongle, and is $6 to remove ads for life. No subscriptions.

I was able to view module-specific DTC codes, and do some long coding for free.

Was definitely useful to have when you’re wondering why you have a CEL about 500 miles from home :).

Yeah - I've mentioned that app a number of times here. Probably the best $10(CAD) I've spent on the car.
It's particularly useful when doing a bunch of adaptations to, for example, the Leuchte (lighting) channels: VCDS you have to apply each DIMMWERT, LICHTFUNKTION, etc. for A, B, AB, CD, EF or whatever, one at a time, confirm, rescan, etc.
With CarScanner, you can set them all on one screen, then hit APPLY and boom - all done at once.

I use OBDlink CX dongle - which cost a lot more than $6, but works way more reliably in terms of auto- and maintaining connections than the cheapie (and a number of speedy) BT things I'd tried before, so I'm happy with it.

I keep it in the little cubby below the light switch to clear the glow plug CEL that my Virtual Cockpit throws at me randomly.

The downside to the app if you use it as free, at some point they lock you out on sensors data and you would need to "purchase" to access them.

Or wipe the app data and lose all the settings to get access again or pay. I paid to support as I like to see a lot of sensor data and no ads.

I know that app pricing has conditioned us to think that anything more than "free" is extortion, but yeah - for $9.99 for a lifetime sub....? Once I was sure it worked, I was eager to pay that, if only to encourage the dev to continue to keep it current.

I had a question about functionality one time, too, and contacted the dev - they got back to me within a few hours with helpful information.

It’s a weird phenomena how a lot of us (including me) will happily pay $7 for a latte or $3 for a water bottle, but then scoff at $7 for an app.

Once I remind myself of that, it’s easier to pay and support the independent developers of these apps. Or donate to those maintaining open-source projects.

Using this app last one year. Good things are fast , scan all modules. Also support for CarPlay is great. Downside is app not supporting PQ25 platforms for coding.

just checked it out and theres no flashing facility Like in ODIS
Did you just compare a $7 app to a factory diagnostic?
to flash and perhaps remove component protection
Look up CP and how it works, and you'll understand why you need ODIS & GeKo... and just wait until you start running into SFD

Sounds like I missed some nonsense-drama.

Only mentioned it being ODIS-like in that this app is able to modify raw data tables in a module’s ROM, something that not even VCDS can access at this time.

In my case, this allowed me to change my new A4’s gauge cluster to that of the S4 which has a nicer layout. An adaptation that normally locks after 100 kilometers: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4...212/rs-s-sport-center-gauge-via-vcds-3051105/

Do you have a step-by-step with what exactly you did with CarScanner.app and your cluster on the A4? Thinking this should be do-able on my GSW VC, too. (I'm tired of the three different options that I currently have.)

Hi,
I am using car scanner app last one year. Recently I saw one new option under coding (service and maintenance) for pq 26.

Engine automatic tests procedure
Forces tests to set OBD2 readiness status
WARNING! Experimental feature! Not tested! Use at your own risk!
After starting the procedure, follow the instructions on the screen.

Is this related to minimum iq deviation adaption?
Please help me.

It took a surprising amount of digging (starting with that thread I linked above). Lots of people offering to sell the solution or a context-less script for VCP.

Further Googling lead to this thread: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/au...t-layout-activation-a5-b9-vcp-script-3050943/

Which finally linked to the initial source (use Google Translate): https://www.drive2.ru/b/637736536393130752

That thread breaks down the logic behind the parameterization change. The script is also now built into the Car Scanner app.
