Thanks to the donations of many as well as VeeDubTDI's fundrasing, I have gone ahead and got the munch needed hardware upgrade. I am expecting to do it either Sunday (Aug 26) evening or some other evening this week. The exact date is not know, but just though I'd let you guys know.

This is part 1 in some much needed upgrades. This time around it is hardware with a very fast SCSII harddrive going in (3.9ms seek time
). The next version of the forums software is still in beta, but hopefully soon will be ready. Searches are still a drain with this new version, but other things are quicker.

Thanks again for the support everyone.

Bad News.

The harddrive was DOA (dead on arrival)
, so the upgrade did not go as planned. I've also been asked if I can reduce some of the bandwith used, so I'll be moving somethings around and trying to tweak them so that the bandwidth is reduced/moved around a bit.

PS, thanks for the note Valois

Fred, you are to be congratulated on your thoughtfulness in keeping us informed as to what's going on.

But then, we all know it's an extremely well-run Forum!

PS - Cut hybird man TH's verbiage out, and you'll save some bandwidth!

Don't chop Ric, though, well, not completely, anyway!

Fred,

Do you have a PayPal Account set up? If you don't then set one up so more of us can help you with funds. PayPal does not charge anything to set an account up and they will deposit whatever is paid to you directly into a checking or savings acccount. I have seen other websites use this (ex. AdCritic.com) from of donations and it works well.
