Noticed tonight my fogs do not shut off with the high beams on. Anyone notice this?

Edit: My Mk7 has the lighting package, not sure if this has anything to do with it vs cars with out the lighting package, and total number of forward facing lights, etc.

I have a Mk6 Golf with the lightning package and the fogs go off with high beams selected.

Same thing here..... thought that was strange at the time I noticed it as ALL my previous cars did not/could not run both at same time.

Mine do that as well (with LP). I'm not complaining though.

Programmed to do that....on most cars...
If you need fogs, the high beam light in the fog would blind you....
Fog= flat, low beam...lower than a low beam...off with hi beam...
Driving light= narrow bright beam, higher than a hi beam....can be on with a hi beam...
Most cars in the last few years are programmed like this...
Since 90% of fogs are used for style...kinda like a rear fog...it annoys some folks.
Wondering if vw might have realized fogs are more about style?

Sounds like VW screwed up the programming then, DOT rules require the fogs to turn off with the high beams.

I rewire / reprogram my cars to leave the fogs on whenever the switch is on though.

Somewhat related, not really.

How do the high beams work on LP? On my older cars, there was a different circuit in the bulbs, and mirrors to change angle AND wattage.

But on the xenons, it appears that it just points the bulb higher. Are the projectors just being tilted higher?

The reason the fogs do not turn off is because on the lighting package, the high beams are the same bulb, thus not breaking the U.S. lighting rule of more than 4 forward facing lights.

Any idea why my Mk6 with lighting package shuts the fogs off?

I have the standard lamps (no lighting package) and my fogs shut off when the high beams are activated. Sounds like this is limited to the vehicles with the lighting package? I don't think it's an issue, however in my experience the fogs are useless with the high beams on so having them off never bothered me.
