I still have my 2003 Jetta TDI and have passed over 400K with it. Now my kid has a 2009 GTI we got running again (230K). Fun little car but he broke the key and its not as simple as my MK4 to program a new one.

Looks like there is an RFid chip in his remote that is broke and we only have one key with the car when we purchased it. So what are my options? Can VAG-Com re-code? All I need is the top half of the key which I believe is VW Part Number 1t0837246dinf which has the RFid in it. The bottom door onlock part of the FOB is good. And at this point I would like to get a second key setup.

Any help would be great.

TDI on.

Cascade German cuts keys. If the blade is still OK, you can send them a photo of it during the checkout process along with proof of purchase and they can cut a new key for you.

VAG Tacho can match the key for you. Tacho can't do *all* VW keys, KESSY keys in particular it can't do, but it seems to work just fine on Mk5/Mk6 era cars with normal keys.

Describe "broke the key".
If it's the keyblade, lots of times those can be replaced (check out youtube).
