Hello! It's my first post since I registered 1year ago :p

Sorry for my bad english but daily language for me is italian :D

I'm from italy and I would like someone to suggest me how to activate "rest km" on my cluster and how to convert my "liter/100km" to "km/liter".

I think Vag is enough... is it wrong?

I hope someone will help me, so maybe I can help you with european-questions

You can't activate DTE (Rest-KM, miles-to-empty, etc.) with VAG-COM. You have to be able to write to a specific bit in the cluster's EEPROM, and VAG-COM can't do it.

To change from l/100km to km/l, you may just have to change the third digit of your cluster's soft coding, using VAG-COM. I don't know which country uses km/l, but there are seven choices:

1 - Europe(EU)
2 - USA (US)
3 - Canada (CDN)
4 - Great Britain (GB)
5 - Japan (JP)
6 - Saudi Arabia (SA)
7 - Australia (AUS)

My cluster's soft coding is 05232, because I want my cluster to show USA measurements.

I think this will not give me what I want... now I have liter/100km and I need km/liter. The same measurements but reversed. Can you understand?

Recode cluster to Japan, they are using km/l

And would I keep everything in italian on my cluster?

I mean warning messages... does this setting change ONLY consumption?

That setting only affects the way your clock is displayed (24-hour vs. 12-hour, and some countries have 0:00 instead of 12:00) the odometer units (km vs. miles), and the units in the MFA (temps on F or C, consumption units, speed units, etc.).

The language for the MFA warnings and greetings shouldn't change unless you change Adaptation Channel 04.

And do you think Japan is different from europe only in km/liter?

Thanks!

I never got the inspiration to change my units. Just try it! In the time it takes to monitor this thread you could have tried out all seven possibilities, found the one that works for you, and reported the rest to the forums.

It works perfectly... but I lost liter/hour when I stop.
Is it possible to re-able?

Does anybody knows the meaning of the other numbers of soft-coding?

;)
