Howdy folks. I'm a new TDI owner, bought a 2011 Highline back in february, black on black fully loaded. She is a gem especially after I blacked out the windows :) Had it on a few road trips since, and overall has performed great.

Not that it hasnt had its share of "close calls" though. I've been having strang feelings about it lately. A couple times the glowplug light has displayed momentarily only to disappear after restarting. Another time the wheel started making a terrible grinding noise upon acceleration! This turned out to be a rock in the rotar (how improbable, right?).

Now lately I have been noticing a strange power decrease/increase. This happens when the accl. pedal is BARELY depressed while cruising. I'm a complete stranger to VW's and the TDI engine, I can only guess it would be something computer/wiring related.

There seems to be wiring issues that are popping up already for these new Jettas. And from the five posts I've read on the forum you would not want to get thee SLIGHTEST amount of impurity or water in the fuel system. I do own a 2005 Ford 6.0 diesel and know all about fluid maintanence and such, but this TDI engine is coming off as very finicky.

Anyways, enough rant. Any info, tips, advice would be great. Figure I better put some interest in learning about this car so it doesnt break. Because it's actually my wife's. :p

hi, i have the identical car as you, colors and every thing! the glow plug thing iv have never had, your car was delivered just before mine so there should be a recall coming in the mail for the wiring issue mine was done a few weeks ago after i looked up my vin # and found it was on the list, recall came the mail in last week lol, but have your dealer look it up to make sure. as for power hesitation on light throttle, i will sometimes get that when coasting than slight throttle as the injecters shut down when there is no throttle demand eg: when foot is totally off pedal or coasting downhill, etc. other than that, the drivetrain on mine has been awesome.

Is the power increase/decrease more like a jolt when engine is cold? Around 2K RPM or so? If that seems like what it is then it is kinda normal, however, abnormal enough that VW put out an ECU update recently. I'll see if I can find some recent posts.

Also, rock between rotor and pad? Not that improbable - happened in the Les Schwab commercial. :D

I had a similar problem but mine eventually ended up on a towing because it completely stalled out. Turned out to be a loose connector on the fuel pump.

1. I would suggest you get to the dealer and have the car scanned. You could have a code stored.

2. As mentioned above, it's may be possible that you have a wiring issue, but more likely you're just experiencing the EGR quirks that all the '09+ cars have. While you're at the dealer getting scanned, ask them about the ECU update.

3. What wiring issues have you heard of? I don't recall reading of any.
