soooo close. 794.9 on 16.05 gallons. only my second tank owning it, not confident in my filling technique yet and was in the country...couldn't risk pushing it any farther. feel good that I can get a 900mi tank if I'm on a road trip.

regardless, a lot less expensive than the '06 Dodge 3500 it replaced to fuel up...so stoked.

I'm in.

815.4 tire miles (should be more with GPS)
14.562 gallons
= 55.995 MPG. (I'm calling it 56...)

Was really hoping for 60 after replacing old tires with a new set of Tiger Paws, but it's still better than my 4WD pickup. :)

802.3 miles on this tank

Discovered the tank vent a couple weeks ago
Replaced 14.435 gallons by venting the air out
Probably still had a gallon left in the tank
55.58mpg (2nd best tank)

Odometer: 209,528

Reading these posts makes me so jealous. 800mile tanks = drool :D
It's an advantage of diesel - it doesn't catch fire, so the tanks are often bigger. I used to be able to get 1000 mile tanks out of my old Passat, and some tanks are big enough to go 1400 miles (B4variant passats).

Unfortunately my current one has a tiny tank (only 34 litres), so I'm restricted in range. I'm hoping to break the 600 mile range on my current tank (target 84mpg imperial / 635 miles), that's with my new 6-speed gearbox & a 0.588 top gear.

Reached 584 miles until the reserve light came on just now, so 600 is looking pretty safe :) Possibly in the 86mpg (imperial) area given the normal fuel volume to reach the reserve.

you can't vent the tank, so it hard to carry as much fuel.
Very true, I have put 14.9 gallons in before and now that I have achieved a 55 MPG tank I think it is in reach! 14.8 x 55 = 814!

I'm jealous of all the 800 milers. Sadly, I have never broken 700 miles, much less 800, on a tank. I only have one tank on the new Golf, but the old Golf was an automatic with PP520s, kermatune, and my lead foot. Made it to 686 but that's the farthest I've gotten. First tank in the new Golf was 588 on 11.5 gallons, but that was more than half interstate at 75 to 80 coming from Phoenix to San Diego area. We'll see how the slower and traffic ridden tanks do.

I just broke 800 Today! 55.2 MPG on my 09 Jetta Drove from chicago to minneapolis and back over the weekend and by fill up time I had 800.4 miles driven. Literally had cruise set at 58 MPH the whole way there and back. It was a very dull ride but I wanted to see how far I could push a tank of fuel.

Congrats! Man that is a long-lived tank! LOL

Now where has Mike been? He should be finishing up his 800 mile tank soon. :)

Oh, I hit my target (and more), but I shouldn't post it here because it's a 600 mile tank not an 800 mile tank LOL :) It's got a small tank so I'll never get 800 miles out of it.

649.1 miles
34.05 litres / 7.49 imp gal / 8.995 us gal
3.26 l/100km / 86.66 imp mpg / 72.16 us mpg
25% urban driving

This was with my new 6th gear kit installed, so dropping my highway rpms by 550 or so.

Not a particularly representative tank given that it had more long trips than usual. The next one is going to drop to the 80 imp mpg point due to a lot of bad traffic (and people other than me roadtesting the car).

Very nice! I just recorded a 570 mile trip that averaged 59.9 MPG. The
gauge was just a tick under the half mark. I knew my mileage was good so I filled, if I hadnt been so anxious I should have been easily able to top 800...Next time! :)

wow that is awesome. How fast were you going if you dont mind me asking? I am just happy I did it because I dont think I can drive that slow again for such a long trip! Im doing another 1500 mile trip next week and I will see if i can hit 750 going 75mph.

Right on 61-62 MPH. Oregon has some of the slowest speed highways in the world :( and this one happened to be a 55 MPH zone. It wasnt too difficult and had favorable conditions with weather and traffic. Had I not filled and resumed my normal commute, I'll guess I would have had a 55-57 MPG overall...and been able to reach the 800 club. Next time! :)

I DID IT!!!

51.52 MPG

The previous tank I had done 777 miles (a personal record), filling up on my birthday no less. The MPG was only 47.
I didn't change much up except that more than half of this tank was highway miles, 55-65 mph.

My lifetime average is 43 or 44 mpg, but I've recently "discovered" that keeping the revs down to around 2k makes a huge difference. I guess I should read this forum more.
