Lost sound in my front drivers door panel speaker, happen to anyone else? If this did happen to you what did they find, wire, amp, speaker?

Does anyone know the TSB for the Fender Sub Box in the trunk bolts coming loose. I have to tighten them every couple of months or the bolts fall out in the trunk.

Darrelld: Don't know about a TSB for the sub bolts. I removed each one, put on a dab of Loctite Blue, snugged it down...no rattles, no backing out.

Also helps to insert a neoprene washer from your local hardware store between the sub foot and body metal before snugging aforementioned locktighted bolts. Use a 1" diameter with a 1/4" hole, 1/8" thick. Over 11K miles and still solid.

...uhh...yeah, I did that too, also on my siste'rs 2013 SEL...

For the newbies here, check out VW norm's posts over at Vortex. VERY cool LED trunk light install, rather simple if you know how to cut/crimp/solder wires. Sub needs to be removed (very easy) add the lights ($11!!! yes...$11!!!), re-attach sub with washers and Loctite Blue, run the wire, VOILA: end of rattles, and SUPER bright lights to remind you of all the trash you keep carrying around in your trunk...

If your speaker is blown, you'd have muffled sound or distortion. A bad coil, damaged cone, etc...

Now, if you have no sound, no distortion, then you may be experiencing the problem I have. Are you getting this problem when connecting the iPod to the MDI cable? Is this happening in all sound modes (am/fm/sat/cd/sd/hd/aux)?

Sometimes, distorted sound from the iPod is due to the input volume on the "setup" menu of the RNS-510. I was told to keep it on Medium, but that does produce sound clipping and distortion at times. On Low, the midrange has no definition.

I really loathe this Fender sound system. And it's only 2 channels (Left and Right), the rear speakers are just filler... the sound stage should be ahead of the front occupants.

Speaker has no sound from any source.
Fade to front left and you hear only the dash speaker regardless of source.

I just checked this using various sources, if radio different stations, if MDI different selections. Here is what I found;

Some radio stations will play through the dash speakers only with some material. Some material on the same station will play through the door speaker only (no dash sound).

When I noticed the speaker problem it was with a iPod Classic source and apparently what I heard is the clipping you described. I do run the gain in the medium (normal range) setting.

I just tested again with DVD-A's and they sound normal so the mp3 source with too much gain will make the Fender sound like a blown speaker.

I have a 2013 SEL with a November 2012 build date.

It vaguely appears that you are having similar problems to me.

If you turn on the heated seats to full power, turn on the headlights and fogs, and turn on the rear window defrost all at the same time while the engine is running, do you get any improvement in sound from the stereo after 30-60 seconds? I think it's voltage related.. or something.

Sorry to read this I thought I might be jealous/possibly upgrading speakers so this has opened up my eyes to any options.

My front driver's door panel speaker was replaced last year under warranty. They said it was blown after I brought it in to find the source of rattle when playing music at a moderate volume.

There was no TSB or recall mentioned at the time but they also applied the Jetta anti-rattle kit to the trunk area (foam around seat belt pockets, pull hooks, etc) to stop the sub rattles that I was hearing.

I have a 2012 Passat SE 3.6 with the Fender RCD-510 audio.
