Hi guys,
I'm a long-time member and I still absolutely love my TDI. However, I am considering selling it because I need something with 4 doors due to a new addition to the family, and I'm moving much closer to my job where I don't really need the excellent fuel economy anymore. Plus, I'd really like something a little nicer and a lot faster.

Here are the basics:
2002 Golf GL TDI 2-door
approx. 113k miles
3nd owner, purchased in 2005 with ~38k miles

02J 5 speed transmission (code EGR) (swapped from automatic) with:
- 108mm axle flanges and matching VR6 axles
- Peloquin limited slip differential
- .681 tall 5th gear
- Bleached Bora dual diaphragm clutch kit with 20lb SMF
- Diesel Geek Sigma 5 short shifter

sprint 520 injector nozzles
RocketChip Stage 3 (smokes much less now compared to pic in my sig)
stock turbo and intercooler
vented fender liner
20th Anniversary Edition GTI Recaro Sport Seats with high side bolsters and adjustable lumbar support
17"x7.5" Audi TT "Fat Fives" polished aluminum wheels with good tires
(will also include a set of 18"x8.5" Flik Artics with not so good tires for the right offer)
Tinted windows
Smoked fender markers and front bumper lights
Projector Head Lights with 6000k HIDs
GTI tail lights
GTI rear lip with Stainless Steel Ractive 4" oval exhaust tip
stock muffler replaced with 2.5" Moroso Spiral Flow muffler
Diesel Geek skid plate
H&R Sport Cup Kit Matched Springs and Shocks
O-Bar Rear Sway Bar
Brand new Interstate battery
Audi TT Aluminum dead pedal and pedal covers
Gray R-line floor mats
0-30 psi boost gauge with offset steering column gauge pod
7" in-dash touchscreen car computer based on Asus Eee PC:
- GPS Navigation
- USB Hub in Glovebox
- Clarion CD player relocated to glove box
- IR repeater to control CD player with remote
- Parrot CK3100 bluetooth handsfree calling

I'm probably forgetting something but that's all I can think of right now. I'll add more pics later, and anything else I might have forgotten from the list.

It has had proper maintenance throughout with a slew of supporting paperwork. Timing belt done early at 53k miles when engine mount broke and was repaired, and then again at 104k mi. with 100k kit.

It has a clean carfax, except for one minor ding in the driver's door that has since been repaired, but was reported as an accident because I was in college at the time and needed the insurance money to have it repaired properly. I have pictures before and after. There are a few rock chips here and there that are usually associated with a 9 year old car., but the paint still shines like new and has no real damage whatsoever. Also, the headliner and door card fabrics are sagging, but I plan to get these replaced or redone before the sale.

Not 100% sure if I really want to sell yet.

Thanks! I'm not 100% sure yet... If I do keep it for a while, then the mods will definitely continue.

I would absolutely love to have this car! Does it have power windows, cruise, and traction control?

There are no power windows or mirrors, but power windows could easily be added through aftermarket kits for around $200.

It does not have the electronic ESP traction control, but the limited slip differential performs every bit as well, if not better, as a mechanical traction control.

It did have cruise when it was an automatic, but I have not gotten around to rewiring the cruise for the manual transmission. So, it should be pretty easy to fix.

Put up a picture that does the Tornado Red a little justice, would ya?

And would a picture of those seats in situ be too much to ask?

Nice car though, good luck.

Sorry guys I've been busy with packing as I'm moving this weekend. I'll try to get some interior pics up soon.

Here are some that show off the color a little better:

(Note:I don't have the black Long Beaches on it anymore, and the grill is now painted black.)

Here is one from a recent local GTG:

HIDs:

Fat Fives:

Flush wheel fitment without spacers and no rubbing (7.5" width and 32mm offset):

No I don't think so. I think some TDI'ers can get a little out of touch w/ reality of what they feel their car is worth b/c they love it so much. There's probably people out there that wouldn't give you more than $3k for your car.

Lots of good mods, but it's typical never to get what you invested back on those. It's a hot market for TDI's right now and I seem to recall a scarcity of 2-dr golf's and people really liking them. You're sitting at $2,200 over KBB, can't believe you'd get more. Good price to start at though imho.

keep your price until you HAVE to move it. A red 2 door with nice mods? These do NOT come up very frequently at all - so its a seller's market on this car imo.

Thanks for the support guys. I test drove an Audi S4 today, and it was really something, but I still don't know if I can really let go of my TDI.

We all think your golf is a "little nicer" all you really need to do is change up the turbo/fueling/tune/air mods and you'd be in a "lot faster" car.

Moving up from the vnt15 to a gtb is a world of difference, but then again I don't know how it is for track times. IBW and Athreetdi could let you in on that type of answer.

Actually I don't do too bad on the Auto-x course with it. Here are results from the latest event that I attended:
http://buccaneerregion.org/jax-5-11.html
I'm competing in SMF class, but don't compare me to the other car in my class because they are fully built to the limits of the rules, on race tires, and that civic is basically a race car that arrives on a trailer. I was on street tires.

Look at the raw times and you'll see that I finished in front of a lot of supposedly faster cars, and not too far behind others.

I think I'm gonna keep the Golf for a while. Sorry, to tease anyone too badly, and I'll try to get those interior seat pics up soon. Thanks for the input folks!

I sold my Golf because I wasn’t driving it after buying an M3… well over the winter I went ape sh!t and removed the interior (including HVAC and stereo) from the M3 partially because I am turning it into a track car, but mostly because I am obsessive and stupid… long story short, I want my TDI Golf back for commuting and a beater and would prefer a tastefully modded 2-door… like yours. I am in the southeast so when you get ready to upgrade to the new (awesome!) S4 with an efficient supercharger and DI, lets talk.
