I am going to be selling my '01 Golf 4-door. The car has 217K miles and will need a timing belt within 8 - 10K miles. Should I go ahead and replace the belt prior to selling? Would I be able to necessarily ask more money for the car with a new belt? The car has some nice upgrades (nozzles, clutch, Koni Red suspension, ball joints, tie-rod ends, TT bushings, DG Skid Plate, recent A/C, 5th gear mod, new Kenwood head unit, also have Recaro seats and good factory seats ). PM me for more information.

would you do the belt yourself? If so, sure, I guess you'd get a bit more. If not, I'd let the new owner do it and work that into the price. Just one opinion, though..

Sounds like a nice car...GLWS

not really looking for a TDI, waiting for the Mazda diesels! Got 267k on my Corolla
i am always more attracted to a lower price than to immaculate maintenance.

It all depends on the buyer. Some people prefer not to have to worry about the expense/trouble getting a belt replaced.

I would rather have it not done so I can do it myself and save on $$ on labor and know the job was done right.

Do you have an asking price in mind? PM me.
