This is a month by month competition. Every time you make an entry it will be added up and recorded together according to the fuel type and car/year you are driving.
THIS IS NOT an individual tank competition (or a partial tank competition for that matter).

Entries will be accepted until MAR 5th 2010, but remember, report tanks FILLED IN FEBUARY.

Entry Format:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Driver:
Miles:
Gallons:
Model Year:
Model:
Tranny:
Fuel Type:

You are allowed to put more than one fill up in a post, so long as each fill up conforms to format.

MPG: (optional since I will calculate it automatically anyway)
Odometer: (optional)
(anything else you would like to add)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint on entering your data - after the colon ( ":") put a space.

US GALLONS AND MILES

TRANNY TYPES:
(x)A = x speed automatic
(x)M = x speed manual *
DSG = direct-shift gearbox
CVT = continuously variable transmission
* if you have swapped in a taller 5th gear please noted this (ie: 5M w/.681)

FUEL TYPES:
Bx = biodiesel - x is the percentage of bio
Biodiesel use equal to, or more than B20, will be indicated in GREEN.
ULSD / LSD / D2 = normal petroleum based diesel
Also please note if it's winterized

- please note if you are using a fuel additive (ie: ULSD +PS)
- - Power Service (PS); Stanadyne (ST); Redline (RL)

Posts not in format will not be tallied / corrected. If I have to do any editing to get your post in format (or to get the correct name), it will not be counted. Feel free to correct your own posts to get them in format.

Please do not go back and add additional fillups to a post. Multiple fillups per post is fine as long as all fillups are in format. If the driver name is not the same as your post name - this will be considered "Not in format" and will not be counted. Only exceptions would be "and spouse" etc.

My trip computer is off by 9.75%. :(

Also, it's 2/6 and this isn't a sticky yet?

Edit: I feel bad about bringing the average down. May as well be driving a gasser!

Shouldn't these threads have a couiple more variables. Like how full is your car, is your terrain mountainous or relatively flat and what speeds to you drive. Strong headwinds or tailwinds , like you can see out west would skew things so much it would not be worth posting.

That said, have not even burned my first tank yet but my new to me 06 jetta 5 speed ran a flat round trip tulsa yesterday, flat ground 72-75 mph most all of the way and had 46.3 there and 46.7 back, I'm a happy guy:)

If you're asking me....

It's quite simple. I like to see how other similar vehicles with similar routes are doing. My father gets a lot of mpg out of his Toyota echo, but his miles are all in new england where posted speeds are 55-65. My miles are all in posted speeds of 65-75, and I drive 5 over. so the results would vary considerably all else being equal.

I know I can improve my numbers 3-6 mpg just by slowing down. so yes, speeds driven is very relative if you're going to compare numbers.

My 110 mile commute has the first 40 miles going a bit slower, was at 52.0 when I hit the turnpike. by the time I got to Tulsa I was 49.0

hills and weight are tougher, but some people always have hills/elevation and gear and some people always have flatter terrain and run solo (like me)

OK, WVU_TDI, I'll format it for you, but just this one time.....

Model: Golf
Tranny: 5M
Fuel Type: ULSD + PS

Now the pressure is off until your next fill-up. That will allow time to figure out what's not allowing you to make the breaks.

Scooper, I'll be watching. If WVU is able to edit his post #23 I'll delete this one to avoid possible double entries.

Thanks, something is definitely up with my Firefox. I'm still unable to put basic line breaks in from this computer. I'll break out the laptop for my next fill up.
