Hi guys. Looking for some advice on restaurants in the greater Toronto area. We're adventurous eaters and really enjoy sampling local cuisines so anything is fair game. 10 year anniversary road trip and I want to show the Mrs a good time.

TIA. :)

If you want a great view, I love going to Snug Harbour in Port Credit. It is an Italian restaurant on the waterfront, with a great patio.

I use an app for restaurants and more on my iCrap called YELP
Use it in North America, Europe etc. Gives you results similar to Trip Advisor with reviews.

If you find yourself in Hamilton, shakespeare's. I would put their steak up against anyone's.

What route are you taking? Through Thunder Bay or around the lake the other way?

There are some tasty Indian Places by Pearson. Punjabi Dhaba one of my lunch time favs. It does leave a bit to be desired in the ambiance, but their butter chicken is kick ass. (best around IMO).
There's a fancier place up Airport road, Khazana's its good, but mostly spiced for the white man pallet.
There is a Dosa place in Brampton, McLaughlin and Derry, can't remember the name of it but highly recommended by Indian people.

We're going through Sault Ste. Marie. Is that the "other way"? :)
Wasn't sure where you were crossing the border. You have a few options.

When traveling through SSM I always stop at Harvey's for a great charbroiled burger and frings (half order each of fries/onion rings). They don't have a location in Thunder Bay any more.

Thunder Bay has some great eats. If you like a steakhouse, Uptown Cut was just reviewed in the New York Times, and the reviewer said it was they best steak they have ever had. Local grown Wagyu beef. Prepare to drop some cash though.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for all of the recommendations guys! My wife unfortunately ate something in Marquette that didn't agree with here so we ended up coming through the Toronto area very late at night. :(

Very interesting that the speed limits are all but ignored in your neck of the woods. I found that while the speed limit said 100 km/h most were doing 140-150....I'm guessing this is normal and the police look the other way?

Depends on time of day and which highway you were on........it's not the norm.

125 kph is pretty common on the 400 series highways and usually overlooked unless the provincial police are having a blitz (which they usually announce ahead of time), 140-150 and you risk enforcement. Over 150 and they will take your car away on the side of the road without a trial thanks to our "stunt driving" law enacted a few years back.

Derry and Goreway. In small plaza, Mr. Jerk..... Bring cash, no cards. Take out only...Wonderful jerk pork, chicken and other assorted Jamaican offerings. Even after not working at the airport for 3 years, I still stop and get it to bring home when the urge strikes!

Try Barg or Kandahar Kebab dinners at both these places equally good, fresh grilled daily these ground beef and filet minion kebab dinners are amazing....and for fast food money...located in mississauga, matheson dixie and matheson hurontario intersections.

Based on my experience, Watan Kabob edges out Kandahar Kabob... but you won't be disappointed by either one.

Two other similar places are Pamier Kabob, and Bamiyan Kabob.
