Fault code help P203B

Our 2012 Passat has the error code P203B showing. Any ideas what this error is? It still seems to run ok, but the check engine light is on. The car has 44000 miles on it.

Google tell me it is probably "Reductant Level Sensor Circuit Range/Performance". It sounds like the first thing to do is to check the level of your DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fkuid) or adBlue. It could be as simple as a low supply, or it could be a bad sensor or something.

So in this case google is on the money, at least if that's the code you are pulling and it's pulled correctly. Hopefully you are using VCDS. There are other 203 codes that could cause a CEL. Thought none ending in B.

Reductant level sensor performace/range code will require the rebuild kit for the AdBlue sensor package. Everything is contained in one unit inside the tank.

Hopefully your dealer will cover this under warranty, as I believe the parts are around $800.

Wow. Over $500 for a kit to fix the heater in the urea tank? Imagine the service total for dealer "repair".

It isn't just a heater. It's also all of the AdBlue sensors combined into one module. Heater, fluid level, etc.

I just took my 2012 Passat TDI in for a check engine light. I received a quote for just over $1k to replace this part. I have 63k miles on it right now. I am challenging that it should be covered under the emissions warranty. We will see how successful I am.

I had the check engine light come on the night before last. Everything was operating normally so I waited until today to take it to the dealer (75 miles from my house) to address this CEL and also have them perform the fix for the low beam headlight safety recall. It turns out the CEL was a Adblue level sensor circuit failure. They replaced the Adblue level sensor assembly and cleared the code. All seems fine at this point. The dealer did not record what the code was on the paper work. The car has 25,300 miles on it so the repair was covered under warranty.

Sorry for reviewing the old thread, can anyone update the experience on fixing this particular Adblue issue on P203B ?

I am having the same issue at 49000K Miles., top uped the DEF and reset the code. After 50 - 60 miles the CEL is back on.

Can someone advise if replacing the Adblue evaluation control Unit / Partnumber - 3C0906651, which is the fluid level sensor., will fix it ? This is a sensor that sits on the tank next to the pump.

I dont think that this is a Heater or Temp sensor issue and replacing the heater kit (https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/Adblue_Repair_Kit/ES2845755/)
will address this code.

Any pointers will greatly be appreciated.

I'd try to run that scan again.
I had the 205B error also a few weeks ago. Haven't had time to call up the dealer as to coverage
I did do my 40k service this last week. And rescanned, and cleared my service notice. When I went to clear the Adblu error, it came back as a 205C.
Just saying that it might all be related. And the fix might very well be the replacement part for 205C.

Edit: just reread your post. Error 203B, sorry for the mix up. I'm sure mines was 205B.

Checked with my dealer and they need 1100 USD for the fix. Its lame....

Would probably wait for till end of this year for the VW Dieselgate fix., may be they cover it as a part of that remediation.

If nothing else, will do it myself.
