Fast Idle on Warm Start

2002 Golf TDI.

I've noticed on warm starts I'm getting a fast idle around 1100rpm instead of the normal 850/900rpm.

I had a on and off (seems outdoor temp depdant) CEL for temp out or range on the thermostat. I had that replaced last May and it's come back (after abou 20k).

Are there any other things that could be causing the fast idle?

Get a vag-com and scan your Car

You might have an issue with the Coolant Sensor

The fast idle wasn't an issue the first time I was getting this thermostat error. That's why I didn't think they were related. Why would an error on a coolant sensor cause a fast idle is what I don't get.
