Somewhere I read a company will fill an aerosol can with the same color as your original paint. I've tried Google and search in these forums, to no avail , Anybody ? Thanks ,Col.
You can use www.paintscratch.com . When I wanted some touch-up paint, my local Carquest was able to match the paint,as long as you have the paint code. I bought a small can (to brush on as touch-up)when I first bought the car, then last year I asked if they could do a spray can of it-they could-so I bought one last year when I bought a replacement fender-the spray can cost around $20.
Rustoleum white is very very close to the white on my '98 Jetta. White is probably the easiest color to match anyway but I've been quite pleased how easy it is to make fixes that are pretty much undetectable.
I just did this to re-paint a new mirror on my '97. They offer either a color/clear process or a 1 step color only process. I did the 1 step and it looks fine (for a 17 year old car). Local auto parts house mixes the color and puts it into a rattle can. Cost about $20 US
