I'd like to know if my 2012 has the "uber expensive prone to failure @ about 40K miles" fuel pump or has this been fixed?
TIA

None...2011 Golf DSG (replaced by VW W/) 2013 Passat SE 6M(bought back) Current 2017 sportwagen TSI 4Motion.
The pump isn't too expensive , it's the rest of the fuel system which it destroys that costs money to replace . There had yet to be any reported failures on the new passats other than a known misfueling .

Thanks. Were on the third tank, we fuel it @ about 1/4 tank.
Is this a good practice?
BTW, I'm in Ocean county.

Most of the failures where on 2009-2010 models and only a small percentage of those failed. It has been way over hyped here by a few who had failed pumps. They are so immature that the continue to post and mention the HPFP failures in every thread.

It would not stop me from buying a new CR, only thing stopping me is $$$.

I wouldnt have mentioned if it werent for a friend who had a failure and was quoted almost 10K for the repair. They had to pull the entire fuel system and the head.
I personally havent run my car under 1/4 tank. I'm only on the 4th tank BTW.
I just wanted to "gauge" the probabilities and consider an extended warranty.:D
