Hello,

I have a 2015 Passat TDI and I have noticed that there is an exhaust smell coming in through the vents when I come to a stand still. I have looked at other website looking for a simple fix in my garage (hopefully) before I have to take in to the Stealership. Has anyone have this problem and if so, how did you fix it?

Thank you

The fix may not be simple, but it shouldn't hard to find an exhaust leak up front if someone covers the tail pipe for you with the engine running. You'll probably find a broken flex joint on the downpipe or EGR system.

I had that exact problem on my Jetta about a year ago, CesarP, and the flex section on my downpipe was broken. I'd say that's definitely the first thing I'd check.

I’ll second checking the EGR. My car would smell of exhaust when it would first start and then I started getting a whistle from under the hood. My lower EGR pipe was broken clean in two. Replaced it and problem has gone away.
