Hey how's it going I just installed this clutch kit from cascadegerman for my 02 mk4 jetta tdi and got everything in but now car won't shift into any gear unless use a little force?? Didn't mess with the hydraulics but bled it anyways still no improvement feels like not really any pressure on the slave and when i got it into 1st gear it grabs way higher and the old clutch used to grab near the floor. Idk what else it could be.

Engaging higher says to me it is disengaging further. That said, the first clutch I ever put in was a Luk 17-050, and I was convinced something was wrong with it due to the very light pedal. Turned out it was just me.

Examining your issue more deeply, if the disc is a bit fuzzy, it will attempt to spin the input shaft a bit. This could be what you see with the 'needs a solid push' to get it in gear. If so, a bit of break-in will settle that in a bit.

Check your shifter linkage and ensure that it is keyed correctly onto the transmission. It is possible to install it off a notch even though it is keyed - I know this from personal experience.

In regard to your pedel experience, the SMF clutches feel very different than the DMF variety. Pedal is lighter (to my foot) and the engagement is a little higher.

Or... You didn't install the correct throwout bearing, but I doubt this is the case.

It's exactly what you said I gotta give it more of a solid push when going into 1st and reverse

The kit I posted in the link came with a throw out bearing

There are just too many to list....
Did you fight getting the transmission back against the engine? Or did it slide in easily?

Have you driven the car and see if it changes/improves?

I'm checking over the linkage on the transmission now see if that has to be adjusted but gotta give it a bit of a push to go into reverse and feels like my foot it's letting the clutch slip like I'm starting to go when I'm at a complete stop

That is engaging earlier. I misunderstood what you wrote before. It sounded like that effect was happening closer to the top of travel.

Also, reverse has no synchros...if the disc is dragging while the pedal is all the way down, there will be a grind of gears. Forward gears have synchros and will resist going into gear.
