Euro switch and cluster woes

So I ordered a new euro switch, and I remember seeing a website (in the past few weeks) or a forum post somewhere that showed you how to mod the euro switch so when you pulled it out to light the rear fogs, you could change the colour of the rear fog icon on the switch. Does anyone have a working link? or know someone that could do it?

I also just ordered a full FIS cluster from England, if I install my euro switch, will the rear fog icon on my cluster light up automatically? Or will I have to mod it?

It's bound to be just one wire though, from the switch to the cluster?

I'm thinking that's the case, but I don't know which pin from the switch to which pin on which connector for the cluster. I think I knew at some point for the A4 what needed to be done, but I'm not sure I've ever seen the write up for the B5.
It couldn't & shouldn't be too complicated.

Well so far all I've found is the part number for the repair wire for the switch and the tail lights lol 000-979-133, you chop that in half and it should give one pin for the tail light and one for the euro switch.

Guys GUYS!

I meant the icon on the ACTUAL euro switch, not connecting it to the rear fogs! Thank you but sorry for the confusion :)

The switch is just clipped together so it'll just be a case of popping it open and changing the led for the fogs

Yeah that's what I plan to do!

However I do want to know if the cluster will automatically light up when I pull out my euro switch to the rear fog position. You know the rear fog indicator on the actual cluster/dash?

Yeh I had a quick look about and found people saying they did it but nobody said which pin on the cluster is for the fogs, as far as I can find it's not already connected. I would try jetta ,97 for that info as he works with them a lot.

I can tell you for sure that the cluster light doesn't come on. One caveat; I don't have my rear fogs hooked up yet. It may light up with the fogs connected, but I doubt it. After looking through the links though, I'll probably hook everything up once I get the car back on the road.

Has anyone added some high power led's installed inside the tail light assy instead of utilizing the diodes to function as dedicated fogs?

Sounds like a good idea! I know here on I-79 when the fog is thick, it's THICK! There have been numerous wrecks where a rear fog would've helped & an even brighter LED could only increase the distance that someone could see you. I'd be all over a solution like that.

It would be easy enough to cement some 3w led's inside the light assy and avoid all the screwing around with diodes amd have them as dedicated rear fogs.
