Euro Bora Grille install questions. Hole in corners?

I purchased the grille below to replace my Jetta grille that separated into two pieces and flew off my car on the interstate.

This grille has two holes punched in the upper corners. My stock grille shell doesn't. Any ideas about how this is suppose to install?

I don't see anything listed in the ETKA for that area. Anything headlight-related located behind those spots?

I feel dumb. The bolts that hold the bumper on behind the stock grill go through this grill and hold it on. Easy install.

I installed mine today. Needed t trim a little off the top by the hood pull latch.
