I’m thinking that sometime in the future technology will put auto ownership out of reach of a considerable amount of people, leaving those people with the best option being some kind of public or for profit transportation. These kind of “advancements” would fit that picture pretty good. I might or might not be around to see it if it happens, but new autos with this kind of stuff are already beyond what I’ll pay for transportation. That and it diminishes my interest in them also. I don’t think the industry is interested in catering to dinosaurs like myself, so I guess all I can do is watch what happens and carry on. Guys your age will have to deal with all this crap on a more intimate level though.

I would tend to agree with that. Things made by man get modified by man. People have the ability to adapt.

Yeah people adapt. Problem is they won't eventually want to and "they" know that. Look at the overall youth attitude toward cars in general. How many don't own a car even a driver license. "You will own nothing and be happy". I hate to be Debbie Downer and it pains this old hotrodder to say this but... horsepower let alone coodie free diesel is a soon to be extinct luxury. U.S generally follows Europe down the toilet on stuff like this..

Well, the horsepower thing is still alive and well, for now anyway. Affordability could squash that too though, unless you have grazing land, then actual horse power becomes viable. Europe’s influence, I think the wrong culture got squeezed out of this country a couple hundred years ago.

More the reason to take care of what we have now. The future does not want, nor can it afford, everyone having a car.

There are just too many to list....
Mini dealer told me the stupid start-stop could not be permanently disabled. 30 seconds on the Autel scan tool proved otherwise.

This is yet another thing that will be easily disabled. Good news is, software is generally much easier and less messy to deal with undoing many of these silly nannyware things.

I am surprised it doesn't also automatically issue you a speeding ticket.
Oh, man, I read this and my mind flashed on those "toilet paper dispensers" in Demolition Man. Please don't give them ideas....

First they made it so that I have to dismiss those stupid cookie notifications every time I visit a website....now this?!
Wow. Its the same thing with the gun control argument in the US. “It doesnt infringe on rights, it helps protect them and saves lives!!” Its beginning to scare the **** out if me bc if they are establishing that precedent, than who is to say that others follow.

More nanny state bs.... people need to grow a pair and stand up to their governments, and take responsibility for their own actions/well being. I need an auto speed limiter like a need a second a-hole. Stupid. Someone will hack it and get it turned off.

It's beginning to look as though "Red Barchetta" was a glimpse into the future...
