Hoping someone can help me sort my esp light issues, touareg drives fine but has the esp light come on and stay on after 20 seconds. Even if the vehicle hasnt yet moved. Switch works to turn it on and off initially but does nothing after the 20 seconds. Have cleaned switch. been that way for years but apparently this now causes an inspection fail.

have vcds and what appear to be the usual culprits test fine. Brake switch, pressure sensor etc. only code in abs module is:

01314- check engine control module dtc memory

only code in engine module other than a glowplug is a strange one

033601- unknown error
B0341 -096- reserved by sae j2012-2018

google is no help on this one has anyone encountered it before? Comes back after clearing codes

any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated before i start blindly throwing parts at it.

thanks in advance!

Try searching "esp stays on" here- VW TDI Search Engine
First post offers some ideas, I did not read them all.
thanks Bob, your link doesnt appear to go anywhere? I have spent a few hours researching though, 90% of cases seem to have the dodgy sensor show up in a scan however so my lack of codes makes it a bit more difficult. Are there any sensors that will not throw a code? Unfortunately my laptop needs a new battery so have been unable to confirm the wheel speed sensors are spot on?

that's odd, it should show a blank page with an input box, here is the long form-
It's also on the last sticky in the TDI 101 forum. Very handy tool.
The ECU/CEL is not comprehensive. Did you look for stored codes? Using VCDS?

thanks bob that one seems to work, very handy. Yeah looks like the possible culprits are steering angle sensor, brake switch/pressure sensor, maf, wheel speed sensor, none of which are throwing a code through vcds and the ones i can test without the vehicle having to move test fine. Are any of these known to trigger the esp light but not throw a code? Without the vehicle moving?
