__. Ms. Laura Lee's '03 Jetta Wagon (the waggin') has a warning light for ESP on the speedo cluster. It's now been on steady for the past few days. Here's the VCDS readout:

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1C0-907-37x-ESP-F.lbl
Part No: 1C0 907 379 M
Component: ESP FRONT MK60 0102
Coding: 0019458
Shop #: WSC 01266 785 00200
1 Fault Found:
00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
014 - Defective

__. Has anyone seen this before? If so, did changing the Steering Angle Sensor fix the problem? Where is this sensor? Where are the connectors for this component (so I can do a little "wiggle the wire and see if that makes any difference" troubleshooting)?

__. Any other comments?

Thanks, MrG

You have to take the steering wheel and airbag off to get to it and inspect its wiring.

__. Thanks. The sensor itself is inside the steering hub? Any experience - is it usually the wiring or an actual failure of the sensor itself?

First thing I would do is look at the measuring block group 004 and turn the wheel from lock to lock. Do the readings change appropriately? Is it 0 degrees (plus or minues 2.5) with the wheels straight ahead?

__. Thanks, Glen. MzLL is off on a business trip today (somebody has got to pay the bills around here) and I'll run these checks when she gets back.

I had the sensor replaced at local VW mechanic. Took them no time and it fixed the problem. Only downfall is sensor was over $400.
