I HAVE OWNED 4 VW DIESELS,2 VOLVO DIESELS,5 MERCEDES DIESELS,2 ISUZU DIESELS AND THIS IS THE BEST PERFORMING LOW RPM DIESEL I HAVE DRIVEN AND SO EASY TO WORK ON.DONT KNOW WHY THEY STOPED MAKING THEM IN THE US.FORD STILL TO THIS DAY MAKES THEM IN EVERY COUNTRY BUT HERE.HAVE 30 MORE PICS THAT I CAN EMAIL.THANKS FOR LOOKING.

If Ford enters the small diesel market again, I wouldn't be surprised if they do it again. Many of their eco boost patents can be applied to diesel fuel related system components.

you don't think that maybe they're using them already, this side of the Pond?

I had an '87 Escort diesel with the 5-speed. I got no where near 65 MPG with that s...l...0...w thing. I averaged around 48 MPG. I did get 52 on one tank, but that was driving 50MPH & purposefully trying to get the best mileage possible. I sold it with 13X,XXX miles & never had any issues with the engine or transmission. The AC system always needed attention & the right tail light burned out every couple of months or so.

They never left it.......politics keeps the 65mpg engines from getting sold stateside.

Fiesta!

Automakers such as Volkswagen (VLKAY) and Mercedes-Benz (DAI) have predicted for years that a technology called "clean diesel" would overcome many Americans' antipathy to a fuel still often thought of as the smelly stuff that powers tractor trailers. Diesel vehicles now hitting the market with pollution-fighting technology are as clean or cleaner than gasoline and at least 30% more fuel-efficient.
