Is it just me or is the EPA being a bit too hard on VW? It might be just me...oh and I blame Obama for everything lol
jking don't want to bring politics into this and offend anyone.

It's not right, we have big 18 wheelers doing way worse.

Like you said it looks for dollar signs.

They knowingly falsified documentation to a government agency to allow them to sell cars here. What do you expect?

The problem here is easy to grasp - In order to sell new cars in the United States, the cars MUST comply with United States laws.

Doesn't matter if you like the laws or not. You must comply if you wish to sell here. End of discussion.

VW apparently evaded complying with the United States Law and tried to cover up that non compliance with a piece of software embedded in the ecm.

The REALLY bad thing here is they CAN NOT claim it was just a simple "mistake". And that is what will lead to criminal charges. People who break the laws and try to cover it up go to federal prison after they are tried and convicted in court.
