I have a TDI ALH engine out of a car.
Are there some numbers on the engine which will revel its date manufacture date?

Nobody knows or is it not possible through any numbers on it?
On my old BMW's there was month and year code on all the large parts.

Not actually sure. Is it the original engine to the car, ie. is the vin date enough? ALH is 99-0̷3 for us, but I assume you know that...

Engine was replaced at some point and I was just curious to know what year it actually is.
I also have the gauge cluster for it and wasn't sure if I could use it in my 2000 Golf.
