my 06 Jetta TDI has a bad stumble when I use cruise control and the rpm's are under 2000. I have to go around 105 km's to avoid it or maybe it is not noticeable at the higher rpm. It almost seems like the motor shuts off and then restarts if I am running in 5th at 1600 to 1800 [85km's/hr] This is only a second or two and happens maybe once an hr.Has any one else experienced this?

I've had similar issues after filling up with bad fuel. Run some additives, try a different fuel brand, change your filter.

I was on a long trip and the car would stumble every once in a while. I thought it was bad diesel, dirty injectors, all the usual suspects. Turned out to be a bad EGR cooler. Whenever it opened, it leaked, and caused problems.

Don't know how applicable this is, but something to check.

Don't mean to highjack this thread, but I had a very similar problem happen to me today, only the "stumble" was so bad it felt like a cylinder wasn't firing. Very low power, very rough running at all rpms, incredibly rough idle, barely made it home (or at least it felt that way)!

As soon as I got home I shut it off and restarted, the same terrible idle/shaking was there.

However, after about a half hour of clearing out the garage so I could get it in and up to work on, I went out and started it up.... idle smooth as can be. Any thoughts?

Car is a BRM w/228k miles, malone stage 1, SMF, EGR Delete, Colt Stage II Cam/Lifters

I plan to run a full VCDS scan, and check torsion and injectors tomorrow. I know the turbo actuator is bad, and have just been driving around it. I'll plan to try the zip tie mod too if nothing else jumps out at me. Also plan to advance the timing as I've read that might be a fix for this too.

Any other things to look at?

Anybody have any other thoughts?

I started it up this morning it ran like a top until it got warm, at which point it began to misfire again.

Results of the Scan showed a misfire on cylinder #1, and an electrical malfunction on injection unit 1. Torsion value was -1.5, and all the injector dwells were below 0.5. My plan tonight is to take off the valve cover and inspect the injector harness. Potentially pull it out and clean all the contacts then put it back in. Any other suggestions?

For any future MKV Owners with this problem, I took the valve cover off last night and cleaned all the injector harness connections with DeOxit, and put it all back together.

That appears to have solved the problem, about 60 miles thus far with no issues.... I'll continue forward with crossed fingers....

Same thing happen to me. It would also send it into limp mode.
