Hi

My car 1999 Golf 4 GT TDI AJM engine starts, but stops immediately. I tried everything cold-booting, ecu swap with VCDS, checked the relays, a professional car locksmith checked the key, the aerial, the immo (it is immo2), and read the SKC, and finally he told everything are working as them should.
When I scanned it the following results I have got:

I have only one key
And the symbol (car on key) is gone
only the amber spiral is flashing later, when I leave the key on

No way are you having this problem, we don't get that over on our side of the pond :p

Hope you used vagcom and coded the new ecu in with the skc? If not it's still going to have the immo fault anyway.

Clear all the faults and try starting the car then scan it and see what comes back, half that stuff could be from disconnecting things.

Oh yeh, clean up the big fuses on top of the battery and also take the battery and tray out and clean up the three earth points underneath. While you've got that lot apart check the continuity of the battery cables, mainly the earth. That 30 amp comes from those main fuses on the battery, I can't remember which one but it comes from there and goes to the bottom of the relay panel.

If you do get the car running check the charging voltage, make sure it's something like 14.5 and not 18 or that too.

Here's how to code the ecu in

Select 17 instruments

Login using skc from the clocks/cluster

Click on 10 adaption

Read then save

Exit program

Turn off ignition for 15 seconds then start the car.

That's what I did for mine and worked perfect. I had to decipher the rosstech info which tends to be way over complicated imo

I used VCDS and I fallowed the procedure, but when I clicked to the Save button the "new value" field stayed empty
Is this normal?
Recently I am still waiting the answer from Ross-Tech Support for this question
When I bought the new ECU I bought it in a pack with ignition switch, reader ring, and key which are coming from the same car "AJM engine Bora" and I have got a bonus cluster (part num:1J5920 926C VDO) which is coming from different car
I am thinking to change all of these, but I am afraid this cluster is different Immo3 type, and is I know well it is difficult to swap
But the checking of wires is in progress

Hi
I have the same problem that you had in my Golf 4 TDI: it starts and stops, the immo light seems dead and I have the same error code on instruments and on CAN bus when scanning with VCDS: "No Communications - Intermitent with Engine Control Module.

I know it's been years since it happened to you, but do you remember how you solved it?

Greetings and thanks.

9 year old thread bud... also this user has not been active other than this thread.

There are lots of other threads on troubleshooting a no start.
