Engine knock

2012 Jetta. Has a knocking noise when the engine is revved up. It's hard to tell exactly where it is coming from. Any suggestions?

New timing kit. Noise was there before the timing belt was done.

Noises can be hard to trace.
They make a mechanics stethoscope that may help you pin point it.
Local auto parts store should have them.
