Hello
I have a Q5 tdi 2015. 340000km always maintained extremely well. Does not burn oil. Does not leak. No exhaust leak.
i have notice lately (Mabey 3-4 months) that during normal acceleration, the engine sound changed. It’s kind of a «loader or stronger » diesel engine sound. Cruising sound is good, idling is good, it’s just in acceleration (normal acceleration) from 0 to 70-80 km/hour that I hear this new sound. Higher speeds the wind /road noise buffers it. To me it sounds like Mabey injection timing could be a little off or something like that. It is very constant and always present.

Any ideas?

The 10 or so years that your car has been on the road has let the exhaust components wear significantly. Your cats and muffler and even DPF likely flow better than they did from the factory. Also there’s a chance that your exhaust has a minor leak that only leaks under pressure.

Hi. Good Idea. Very logical answer. It needs to go to service soon. Ill ask a particular check on any trace of exhaust leaks. Thanks!
