So I thought that having the monitors set to ready would keep from failing, as in the past this state I live in does not do a visual inspection but simply hooks up the scanner and checks opacity. But of course the year I do a delete they've made the emissions test tougher and visually inspect everything. Really lame how they took $67 from me to tell me my car failed. Just a warning to other TDI lovers, if you live in the front range area they've made it tougher to do a delete and still register. I've sunk over 5k into this vehicle the past year, not too mention all the labor since it was all DIY work, so I really don't wanna let it go. After all my other failed investments lately, this is the only one that has been reliable on me.

So now I have to choose between keeping the car I love or moving to another state and losing my gf (since she wont move out of state). Btw opacity was highest at 60 mph and only read 2% which is way below the threshhold for failing which is 20%, but when I pointed this out they said something about hydrocarbons? Why are they concerned about a little two door 4 banger CJAA co2 levels that doesnt have the tiniest bit of smoke out the exhaust is beyond me. Anyway just wanted to warn others in case you were thinking about doing it.

It's all about the Benjamin's at this point. Did you keep the deleted parts for re-install? Original program in a flash or other medium? May be able to revert and sell off the delete stuff.....Sux either way.

That sucks!! Wonder how long until the tests start to be implemented on the western slope

..should have paid more attention in chemistry class....
Tailpipe CO2 is hydrocarbons that have been burned, combined with oxygen, 'burned'.
Tailpipe 'hydrocarbon' is hydrocarbon that is still combined to the hydrogen, not burned (so no power was produced from that fuel out the tailpipe).

I think moving to a different state because of only my car would be pretty ridiculous. There are plenty of other cars with whole forums and worshipping communities. That said, you also won't be able to look at the diesel pump in the same way again

Sounds like one of those Montana LLCs would be cheaper/easier to do and register the car there? Or find a "guy" who has an address in one of the counties in Colorado that don't test emissions.

Can’t you get a P.O. Box in park county and use a friends address? They don’t test emissions.
