:/ some other people are reporting better low end torque, I myself haven't noticed less pull or power in my car after the update.

I guess, the only way to know for sure would be a pre/post dyno? Though the results you show are really not all that appealing.

Only way I could get a true before/after would be re-running my car after an upgrade which isn't going to happen. We don't see differences in the actual engine, maybe minor differences 13/14 in ECU code but I have the revs that were installed in each.

I don't have a way to post the data up on the web to link to it here right now. Will see if I can work on that because data always helps the case.

BTW, went through the video from the runs last night. I would highly recommend updated engine/trans mounts before increasing engine torque in these cars. Lots of motor motion under load.

Had the update installed over a week ago, no noticeable difference in MPG or HP. Possible smoother throttle response yet this could be a placebo effect. No certification was given for the update, in fact I never received a letter about the recall yet... The dealership called me about 2 of the other recalls that needed to be performed. Axle inlays and "The made for dummy's mis-fuel adapter".

I have been having some issues with rough idling and what feels like a miss when the RPM is between 1k and 2k. I am dropping my Jetta off today to have the software updated. I really hope it makes a difference for me. I feel like all that bumping around is going to do something bad if gone unchecked. Ill report back after the long weekend if i notice any improvements.

I dont know about you guys...but I had the recall/upgrade done on Friday along with summer tires put on.
I know the tires make a difference but the car seems to be more responsive and feels like its smoother when shifting 1-2-3....and has a better kick...it just feels like it has "more balls".

Hey all,

So I picked up my car today after 20k service and both recalls done and I am noticing a large change in overall performance. The throttle response is much better, it seems to run smoother and it just runs better then it did before I dropped it off last week. As I said in my first post, I was having some issues with what felt like an engine miss at idle and while driving so maybe the recall was to fix issues like I was experiencing. The car also felt like it had some sluggish acceleration but that seems to be fixed now. I have only have the car back a few hours so I'm not sure how the update will affect the MPG but Ill keep you posted. Hope this helps!

I have a tune on my car and have no intention of letting VW do this until I have heard someone else has had it done with no problems.

Axle Inlays? What is that?

I had this software update done on Thursday. I haven't noticed any performance changes, though it's possible there is a slight degradation in the gas mileage, which is annoying. The bigger annoyance is that my CEL came on with P00D5 code for O2 sensor on Monday (so 4 days later). I cleared it yesterday and it hasn't come on again (yet anyway). Has anyone else who's had the update done seen this?

I was stage 2 and the car is getting worked at at a dealership to fix my ac under warranty again. Even though I told them no update they went ahead and did it anyways (seriously stupid people). Talked to my local Malone dealer and he said he'll flash me up again so there should not be an issue. I'll let you know what happens.

Well, they really are not stupid - the SW update was mandated by EPA as part of emissions compliance. They were just following the federal law, and did not do it just because they wanted to be contrary. I know it is a pain for those with a tune, but that is the law. Give them a break.
At least your Malone dealer is taking care of you.

The letter we all got does not mention any Epa mandate. Anyways I own the car, not the dealer, not vw, not the Epa.
They should have said they had to do it not just go ahead and do it anyways. Really disrespectful for someone that has paid for a machine and owns it.

yea, I'm gonna have to agree there, if you tell them NOT to do something, they should at least have the decency to say "hey we have to" or decline to work on the car and tell you to go elsewhere. not just "oh ok" and do it anyways.... there would be some serious words exchanged if I went through that..

when are you planning to get reflashed?

At this point I'll just be happy to have a working ac system in my car. My dealer advised me not to get in argument with them because they might void my warranty. I'll just do that. I'm planning on getting it reflashed as soon as my dealer and I have time

Sorry it was my Malone dealer that advised not to get in an argument with then in order to keep my warranty intact. My bad I did not make that clear

mixed fealings

I had the ECU updated ~ 2 weeks ago. I have run through 3 tanks of fuel. Gas mileage has been right about 42.5 MPG. My PRE-PROGRAMMING MPG was very reliable 44 MPG. My daily commute is about 140 miles and that includes mostly freeway driving (405 freeway just barely qualifies). I do think there is a slight increase in performance. Off the line it does accelerate better (except for the heartbeat delay for the DSG to get a move on) . I use the APP “torque” to keep an eye on the boost and it looks like going up a hill and maintaining a steady speed the Turbo boost is down just a hair. I don’t see this programming as a BIG positive or negative but the car does drive with a bit more of a lively feal.

2013 Jetta was 44 MPG is 42.5 MPG
1995 Passat MTDI 55 MPG

Got mine updated today too, along with the rear axle recall thing... which I thought only applied to vehicles that have been in accidents. I don't mind extra bracing on the suspension though :)
No thoughts yet. Car felt a little sluggish out the door of the dealer, but I think there is a little "learning curve" for newly flashed cars. Anyways, like everyone else I will just wait and see.

First fill up since the "update" today, and fuel mileage went from the right around 40 mpg to about 36 mpg. Part of this might be due to most of the driving being in town since the "update", so this is hopefully not a reflection of the "update". I sure hope not anyway.

On VW Vortex I found some info on the DSG firmware "update". The update number is 23602599.
There is a technical service bulletin 2011690/3 35-11-01 that addresses this condition of "lagging" at acceleration from a stop. It was only applicable to TDIs.

Called the dealer to inquire. I was told the "lag is normal" with a DSG. Really? So you step on the pedal and have to "wait" for the DSG's "brain" to tell the vehicle to "go"? Does this thing have a "DSL" connection speed or something? He also told me that by putting my VIN into the VW website that everything is "up to date". OK. But I have had corporate computers LIE to me before. So it's going in for a check next Thursday. With only 7K on it I hope this isn't what I can expect from VW service in the future.
Get a Malone DSG Tune it may seem expensive, but you will be glad you did.

Dare I ask how they do this upgrade? The ignition was on the whole time so my dash cam recorded the service and to me it looks like it sat on a battery charger for 35 mintues. I heard some ruffling so maybe they had a cable running through the drivers window to OBD2 port?

If anything it might be down on mid range power slightly and the Multifunction MPG is lower. I did a fuel up right after and will see over my next tanks what Fuelly shows.
