I have a 2015 Q5 TDI with 145,000 km, should I get this emissions recall done sooner or later? I hope to keep the vehicle to 300,000 km and there are no problems with vehicle right now. I can get this recall done now or wait until closer to the end of the extended emission warranty, 10 years or 193,000 km.

Get it fixed sooner than later in the event something else goes wrong so you have some warranty left.

Don’t. Warranty isn’t everything….hence all the complaints about the tune. If parts are failing because of the tune, you might just change your mind…. “Search” is a friend best kept very, very close.

Fft, my car was tuned right away. I've had the odd electric gremlin, but it's gone away. My cars emissions equip is perm fixed. So I've never had that issue. First thing ive had to touch on the engine has been the coolant flange seal. Other than tb and wp. Brakes and trans service as well. My dad has the same car (year older and no kessy) he has had it in a few times. O2 sensors twice, the hpfp, and a glow plug replaced under warranty. Now out of warrenty, just replaced the upstream O2 today, and glow plugs again.(has cyl 1 pressure sensor short) I also believe his dpf is cracked because a sooty tailpipe. Same miles acrued since purchased.

The above right there is (I presume) quite indicative of the added stress to the motor after the Emission Fix. Set a Neutered and a OEM back to back on VAGcom and you’ll see what I mean. Warranties only fix stuff during the…wait for it… warranty. Once that’s up, that tune remains and so does all the parts that now are stressed that were not designed for it originally (right or wrong).
Best of luck… please don’t gripe after the car has been sorted after the AEM and problems arise.

Also. On top of this, my dad replaced all the glow plugs because of sporadic pressure errors. And just last night he got a torque diff code for fuel injector performance. He had to have his dmf and hpfp replaced at 110k miles.modification done at 78k His engine vibrates more than mine. (I have a poly dog one filler) he's not even out of warrenty yet. I drive my car more and far harder than him, not to say he short trips. Also the non clipped models are worth more. You have so long to get it. Wait till the last moment.

Don’t ever get it. Narry an issue for those of us who have refused that “piece.” I left $11k on the table. Not even a peep looking a back.

I’ve logged both back to back and it’s not an easy life as a neutered 3.0l or your lowly 2.0l.
All the best

As as side note, I know of 2 Audi and 2 Porsche non-neut trade (private) hands for 7-9k more and the two Porsche 10-16k more. This was between a 18mth to current span. Probably with the increased valuations and realization that it DOES affect the vehicle in a detrimental way, I wouldnt be surprised if it added more.

Don’t be fooled though, it’s not the unused warranty that’s adding money to the vehicles.

If I'm following correctly, you're saying that you have a pending recall to replace your DPF?
If you're not experiencing any DPF issues currently, wait as long as you can to get it performed.... it only makes sense that you wait until you're close to running out of your coverage before you get a new DPF and then hopefully don't have any related issues with it for the next 190k

Although you are ignoring what I said about not being in the USA, so I'm not really clear what you're up to.

Go here an search. If you use that 23Z8 which you are referencing above, you'll get no results. I'm attempting to tell you that Audi Canada won't have \honor the same campaigns that Audi USA will. Validate this with your dealership to make sure I'm not making stuff up.

I received letter from Audi Canada regarding DPF replacement, I will wait longer to get the work done. Thanks

Audi dealer accepted recall for the campaign 23Z8- Oxygen sensor relocate VIA DPF replacement. I have 150,000 km, I get the impression it is better to wait closer to end of the emissions warranty to get this work done based on most of the comments & replies? My Q5 TDI has no DPF issues so far, I hope to keep this Q5 for at least another 100,000 kms which is about 5 more years of driving.

If after the emission warranty ends the vehicle has emmission component failures I will then look at the changes that others have done to keep ongoing emmission costs low.

My drive pattern is: April to November 16,000 km 80% highway 20% city. December to March 4000 km 40% highway 60% city.
