Electrical Issues

The other morning it was 25 degF and when I started my 2010 Golf TDI, a string of lamp failures were announced on the dash, Right Head Lamp, Right High Beam, Left Rear Brake Light, Tag Light and several more, got out checked, it was true. When I restarted that evening to go home only had Right Head Lamp, Right High Beam, all others were working again. This morning got the same Right Head Lamp, Right High Beam, but they were both operating? Do the gremlins have a hold on my electrical system? Can anyone shed some light on this situation?

Check under the dash by your left foot. You should see a bunch of connections, check them all and make sure there all secure and there locks are in place.

I had a fuse that melted and that is how it announced itself. I'd pull and inspect them.

X2 same problem I believe it's fuse 14 or 15 in the engine compartment. Apparently there was a tsb for this

Electrical issues ,multiple lights out

Good info , Thank you , 2010 Jetta had multiple exterior lights out . Tail light (L), head light (R), turn signal . Found fuse F16 (30amp) in fuse box engine comp, burnt half way thru , with minor damage to fuse receptacle.

I also have 2001 , AC clutch stopped working , found Same issue a while back .

My Golf did the exact same behavior when the oe battery was getting weak.

Edit: The comments about melted fuses got me thinking, and sure enough, My #14? 30 amp fuse was partially melted, but not blown. Strange. I may replace it with a 25 amp fuse.

I believe there was a recall for this issue. Hopefully you still have the original fuse so you can show the dealer.

They should be able to replace it for free.

What exactly do they replace? No way am I going to the dealership for a $.50 fuse.

It's my understanding that they replace the entire fusebox because of the defect.
