Power windows are not working, along with the interior lights, and the power locks. When trying to lock the doors externally, they lock, then unlock themselves. I have no blown fuses. I’m tearing my dash apart trying to find a broken connection, but I have no clue as to where to look.

Is there a hidden relay that powers this system?

First thing I would do is get it scanned with someone who has a VCDS- this eliminates any guessing

That being said, it does sound like your CCM is acting up

Get it scanned [emoji106]

Also, are the above listed components governed by the 09 cent. elect. control module? Trying to check for faults with VCDS yields an error message ‘No response from controller’.

Where is this controller installed, so I can check connections?

Central conv 09 should look at the CCM

Try doing an auto scan and see what all pops up

The CCM, I believe, is located under the steering column

It made no sense at the time but when my front windshield washer pump started blowing fuses regularily and my efforts failed to identify the root cause , a competant VW correctly identified frayed wires in the REAR harness feeding power to the rear washer and other rear components. Apparently its a fairly frequent occurrence

Also check wires where they pass thru the car into the door. As our cars get older we see many issues turn out to be simple wires/connects. Always hard to track down.

I know the wires in the headlight buckets I've bought from the salvage yard have fallen apart as soon as I touched them

Comfort Control is what you want to check with VCDS. You may have tried communicating with a module that does not exist on your Jetta.

Electrical Grounds...

Have you checked the condition of the electrical ground wires? Take a look at the ones under the battery tray. I bought a car from the coast and the wires had a lot of corrosion. Caused all kinds of weird faults, ABS indicator flashing and strange lock behavior.

Texas machine, and no signs of corrosion could be found.

Problem solved: took her to the dealer and swapped out the CCM. Dealer didn’t even charge me to program her (since I had had disassembled and would reassemble).

I'd like to throw it on the bench, if I may. You could pull it apart yourself and visually inspect for cracked solder joints. A microscope works best, but a good eye, bright light, and decent loupe is often sufficient. It may be repairable if it's a mechanical or simple-ish monolithic component problem.

I've repaired a few computer monitors and a LCD TV recently by replacing a few capacitors that popped.

There's a scratched in cross (or + ) on the top.
It's a stress release for when they pop and the top bulges up a bit.

I wonder if any of the controllers in the VW's have the same problem.
